It's always a plus when a great series has great music to match.
^_^ Music, songs especially,
for Conan are mostly a pleasure to hear and add another level of
enjoyment.
To date there are 33 opening themes (OP) and 41 ending themes (ED), 5 original soundtracks
(background music = BGM only) and 15 movie soundtracks (nearly all BGM). There are some other
CDs: a BGM Best Selection (1997), a Song Collection (9 tracks, 1997),
"The Best of Detective Conan"
(16 songs from TV & films) (cover pic above) and a couple other
odd ones I'm not sure about.
December 2003 saw the release of Super Best #2 (collection of BGM
tracks) and the second theme song (OP&ED)
collection CD. The first pressing of this CD came with a DVD which
will have the textless versions of the OP&ED
songs that are on CD. Track listing, 15 songs, can see
here. Dec 13, 2006 is release for a Movie Themes CD ...
I'd rather have a Vol3 of the OP and ED songs CD instead. And now I can, it came out Aug 6, 2008.
The OP & ED songs almost always come out as CD singles.
I'm not sure how the connections exactly work between production
studios & music companies,
but there's definitely pairing up. You may have noticed that
(especially in past 4 years) all the OP&
ED for TV is done by artists under the GIZA Studio label. Just like
will only find AVEX artists
doing shows backed/made by AVEX MODE (Inu Yasha, Hikaru no Go eg). No
doubt why we'll
never hear Megumi Hayashibara (aka Haibara Ai) doing a song for Conan
(she almost always does
songs for shows she's in) since all her music comes out by King
Records.

OPENING THEME LIST
My favourite song&sequence: "Nazo"
Least favourite: "Giri Giri CHOP" (Song is great but doesn't really
suit DCN)
Did anyone else laugh way too hard
upon seeing OP sequence for "This Love is Thrill, Shock,
Suspense"
for the first time? Conan Para
Para dancing is just... WRONG ^^

NOTE * : Kanji reads Chikyuu =
Earth BUT Hoshi (usually means star) is used instead as the
reading
(listen to the song)... hello poetic licence ...
*
Interesting... every other ending sequence cuts away to
show images of the episode... not this one. I guess it would ruin
the point of this sequence (Shinichi & Ran picture on Ran's desk
staying the same while the time keeps passing, only see items come
and
go from Ran's desk = unchanging feelings/relationship and/or still
waiting/keeping her faith in him/his return.
Some of the CD singles (first pressing) came with extras: Sticker or
little picture cards (usually
a still art pic from the sequence). eg.
"Winter
Bells"
