Back in 1995 while browsing through the TV Guide, I came across "Sailor Moon" on YTV (YouthTV,
Canada). Sailor Moon? What was that supposed to be? Title sounded interesting enough to try it out.
Boy, that bit of curiosity sure started something! ^^ Spotting the "based on original work of Naoko
Takeuchi" in the end credits led to a search for the manga and the original anime. Blessed with local
Asian malls and an anime club run by a 25 year otaku veteran, neither one was difficult to track down.
Just like in a store with nothing but isles of candy, it's hard to resist trying only one thing. So it didn't
take long before exploring the realm of anime and manga became a full blown hobby. An Internet
connection in 1997 only provided further expansion of the hobby into collecting merchandise as well
as meeting with a bunch of like minded people across the world. Thirteen years later, I've covered lots of
anime ground, however, there's still plenty left to do (learn more Japanese, GO to Japan, experience
a big anime con...) and watch (thankfully). And after 16 years, one tends to form rather solid opinions,
likes and dislikes. So for anyone interested (is there?), here's what I've seen, what I'm hoping to see,
and what favourites I have.
Anime Series I: Seen it all or intend to as soon as can get mits on the rest of it.^^
Friends ask me Top 5 or 10 favourites and I don't really have a definite answer. #1 fav series I can
name in a nanosecond (City Hunter ), but the rest of my favs I can't give in a particular order.
9 shows to round out series I enjoy the most: Inu Yasha, Detective Conan, Escaflowne, Kodomo,
Ghost Hunt, Slayers Next, Sailor Moon, Prince of Tennis, Shurato.
Somehow I have this knack for picking LONG series as favs oO
If I like the characters in a show, I'll watch it. Genre doesn't matter.
Willing to try out a show if it has one or more favourite seiyuu. ^^
