Resumé

Dr. Lynne Greenwood is a graduate of Indiana University and the University of British Columbia. She has taught woodwinds and theory at the University of Alaska, and saxophone at the University of Victoria, Kwantlen University College and Western Washington University. Now located back in Victoria, BC, she is establishing the Greenwood Music Studio which specializes in woodwind instruction.

As a doubler, she has played in musical theater productions, and as a solo saxophonist, she has performed with orchestras in Canada and the US. A past member of the Paul Brodie Saxophone Quartet, she has also performed with the Pacific Saxophone Quartet of Victoria, the UBC Saxophone Quartet, the Victoria Symphony and the Palm Court Orchestra. While living in Victoria, she also played with the Belvedere Broadcasters, an authentic radio orchestra which plays music of the 1920’s and 30’s.

She has been an invited soloist with the World Saxophone Congresses of Chicago, Toronto, and London, England. She is also an active member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, performing at numerous national and regional conferences.

With an interest in the history of saxophone, Dr. Greenwood recovered much of the music written for saxophone by Louis Mayeur (1837-1894), one of the first virtuosos of the instrument. She and her husband Julian are currently launching a project to publish Mayeur’s compositions. The Grande Fantaisie sur Norma de Bellini (1869) is the first available edition. Her CD, "A Concert in the Park" demonstrates the beauty of five of Mayeur’s opera-based fantasies. Dr. Greenwood also presents lecture recitals on Mayeur’s music.

Dr. Greenwood is available for adjudication and clinics.
