Lorne's 1952 Chevrolet 1300

Well, here is my  webspace created to show off my new aquisition (Dad calls it my inheritance - funny guy) a 1952 Chevrolet 1300 1/2 ton.  I had posted a story on my favourite truck webpage ( http://www.stovebolt.com ) but my dear ol' Dad corrected me.  Apparently I overpriced what he paid for the truck about 25 years ago.  The truck was sitting in a yard down the road from our cabin, well Dad know's just about everyone out there and didn't have a truck to haul stuff to the dump so asked Henry how much for the green bomber... $20 and him and my uncle hooked a tow rope to her.  Cracked block on the original 216 babbitt pounder and was mentioning to another friend out there that he needed a motor for the truck and $25 later, had a fully complete pressurized 235 6-cylinder and tranny from a '52 donor car.  One weekend's work and he and my Uncle Don had it running.  She was used for hauling garbage/wood/assorted stuff off and on for the next 25 years (more off than on) and sat for the majority of it's life in our family.  Well being the dreamer that I always have been, I've been wanting to get that truck since I was a lad of about 14 and driving the ol girl in my grandpa's field. Well about a month ago, I talked to Dad and asked if I could have the old truck and start to restore her... he was all for it!!  He said she's been sitting too long and had actually wondered what took me so long to ask.  Three weeks later (new battery, tank taken out and refurbed, 4 225x75x16 tires off Uncle Don's 1-ton, and the loan of a car hauler trailer) she's in town and making my car enthusiast neighbours crazy with envy.  The story's pretty long (and have more stories with the truck such as hitting the bear at 50 mph and not getting a scratch) and without any further ado, please check out my pictures of the ol girl sitting in my driveway.  Take care and talk to you folks later.... see you on Stovebolt!
