MEMBERSHIP IN THE CDC:


The Career Develpment Chapter is actively involved in policy development for career practitioners working in a variety of settings such as employment centres, employment agencies, colleges, universities, schools, private practitioners, and career trainers.

A membership in the Canadian Counselling Association is required in order to join the Career Development Chapter. Currently, we are a very large chapter of the association with 170 members.

Approximately 170 members as of September 18, 2002.

Past Activities (Last six months):

A newsletter will go out shortly to all members of the chapter. Issues are sent three times per year. CDC Chapter Networking breakfast held at the CCA Conference in Ottawa, May 2002.

Survey re: Diversity Competencies conducted by Nancy Arthur through the CDC chapter.

Chapter Finances:
Financial balance on October 8,2002 was $1,258.44.Since then we have received our chapter fees from CCA in the amount of $516.00.

Further development of chapter website to include:
  • French Version
  • Links to other websites for example: Contact Point, Canadian Career development Foundation
  • Inclusion of Canadian education and training opportunities of interest to career and employment and career development practitioners.
  • Canadian University programs
  • Canadian College programs
  • Canadian professional training programs and workshops
  • Counselling resources
  • Proposed name change for the CDC Chapter travel bursary for a student who wishes to attend the CCA Annual Conference, or for the NATCON Conference (if not used for CCA earlier). Proposed name: the Dr. R. Vance Peavy Student Travel Bursary. Approval received from Judith Peavy to offer this bursary in recognition of Vance Peavy's work in the area of career counselling.
