Current Art Project: Cross-stitch

March 4, 2006 - Cross-stitch (updated October 6)

October 6, 2006 - Graphite Sketch
A quick sketch. Not happy with it, but I gave up and figured it wasn't a bad try since I haven't sketched people in over a year.

November 2, 2005 - Cross-stitch
Finally complete! It took me long enough. Now just gotta get it framed.

April 4 , 2005 - Model Airplane
Ah, the labour of love. Over two months and many long hours later, I finally finish Corey's Valentine's present - a model airplane! Bonus points to those who can identify the type of plane. And for those skeptics out there, yes, Corey liked it. I do believe this is the first and last model I will ever build, paint, glue, and decal.

March 27, 2005 - Graphite Sketch
I want to try sketching anime stuff. This cat demon from Inuyasha is my first attempt.

October 2, 2004 - Banana Bread
A couple of the guys gave me a recipe book for my birthday. I've been flipping through it and picked banana bread as my first baking experience. It's pretty good so I'm happy. Then again, I would've been happy with any result close to edible :P

Recipe:
3 ripe bananas, well mashed
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsps grated orange zest
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon; 1 tsp. salt; 1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 ounces walnuts, coarsely chopped

Preheat the oven to 350F; Grease a 7x3" loaf tin.
Combine bananas, eggs, and orange zest in bowl.
Sift in flour, cinnamon, salt & baking soda & mix.
Tip into tin and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes.

July 27, 2004 - Graphite Sketch
This took me about 4 hours. I had been meaning to sketch this photo for ages. Really loved the expression/pose.

July 24, 2004 - Graphite Sketch
A quick sketch. I didn't bother with the face b/c I wanted to focus on stance. Less a portrait and more an action shot. I don't really like it, but considering the short amount of time I spent on it, I can't expect much more.

June 19, 2004 - Cross-stitch
Finally finished! Now I just have to frame it when I get back to Victoria and my masterpiece will be complete.

May 28 , 2004 - Lino Cut
My first try at a lino cut. It was more difficult that I thought it would be. Good thing I started off with a relatively easy design - Champ, my champion mushroom. Check your brown paper mushroom bags for him :P

May 16, 2004 - Graphite Sketch
Another sketch I finished recently. And by the way, I am NOT narcissistic. I'm just practicing different poses and I just happen to be the best and only model around.

March 17, 2004 - Graphite Sketch
I haven't sketched in ages, especially not sketches of people. So cut me some slack in the sketch review please!

March 06, 2004 - Creamy Deviled Eggs
Okay, not really an art project but cuisine could be considered a form of art, right?

Recipe:
6 hard-cooked eggs
2 tbsp. Miracle Whip Lite Dressing
1 tsp. sweet pickle relish
1 tsp. mustard
pepper, paprika
Cut eggs in half length-wise; remove yolks; mash in bowl.
Stir in dressing, relish, mustard, pepper.
Spoon in mixture to egg whites; sprinkle with paprika.

I love deviled eggs. They are so easy to make too! Now all I need is that specialized dish of my grandmother's and I'm all set.

February 29, 2004 - Knight & Steed block print

Just finished the most exciting step of block printing - finding out what the print looks like after finally finishing the carving!
I am actually happy with this one. It turned out well. Took me pretty much the whole weekend to sketch, carve, and print.
