The Saskatoon Lions Band has been in
existence for over 50 years. Students from 9-19 years of age participate in the
program from Saskatoon and the surrounding areas. The Band supports itself
by fees, fundraising efforts, grants, ongoing generous support from the Lions Clubs
of Saskatoon and parent volunteers.
This community band has performed at various local, national and international events. They marched in the 1995 Grey Cup Parade, received Third Place at the World Marching Band Championships in Calgary in 1996, in the Community Band Catagory. Over the years, the Band has received many awards for their Concert, Jazz, and Junior Marching Band. | Because of the smallness of the Saskatoon Lions Band, we did not have our own 2000 or 2001 Marching Band/Show Band Season. In the 1998-1999 season the students still interested in the Show Band were combined with the The Blue Thunder AKA The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band. They met once a week in North Battleford to practice music, marching, and their Fancy Drill. Combined they went to Regina and won 1st Place in the Canadian Marching Band Championships(Junior Catagory). |
