SO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MOI ?

Since you're viewing this page, you obviously wish to know more about me, so I'll try to fulfill your heart's desire.

Support Our Troopsroundelcf crestUntil 31 January 1996, I was a military officer (Air Navigator classification) in our illustrious Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Armed Forces for over 32 years. My last assignment was as CO of the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre in Vancouver, BC ( Call your local recruiting office at 1-800-856-8488. Live The Adventure! There's No Life Like It!, The Proud! The Strong! Fight with the Canadian Forces! ). I was stationed in Centralia (ON), Winnipeg (MB), Summerside (PEI), Greenwood (NS), Ottawa (ON), Toronto (ON), Halifax (NS), Comox (BC), Esquimalt (BC), Vancouver (BC), Burbank (CA-U.S.A.), and Warminster (PA-U.S.A.). (I'd tell you more, but then I'd have to shred you!). I am now retired and living in Comox, BC.

I'm married to (the vivacious and good-natured) Charlene, a retired Registered Nurse, quilter, & dragon-boater and we have three grown daughters:

  • Lara, with her menagerie (currently at 1 spouse, 3 dogs & 2 cats), lives in Dartmouth, NS and works in the Labour Department of a Halifax law firm. Lara, individually and with her twin sister Lisa, is an award-winning belly-dancer, and teaches belly-dancing classes as part of a personal business. She stays fit and trim, has run two marathons, many half-marathons, and triathlons. Her hubby, Scott, is the photographic expert in the family, operating Scott Kirkpatrick Photography, a scenic, sports, wildlife & portrait photo sales website featuring his own photography.
  • Lori, our family fitness expert, relocated in 2007 from Mumbai, India to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and then to Chilliwack, BC in December 2010. She is currently employed in a 3-month contract as a Bikram Yoga Instructor at a studio in Bogata, Columbia, where she is also learning the Spanish language.
  • Lisa, lives here in the Valley as well (village of Cumberland, BC) and works at Courtenay City Hall. She is married to Doug who is an manager inspector with the Comox Valley Regional District. Together, between hunting trips, karate training, dance classes, and the myriad of other interesting things they do together, they built their own house in Cumberland. Lisa and her twin sister, Lara, also perform and teach their belly-dancing art at various venues, both individually and as members of their respective troupes. Geographic location now prevents their performing together as "Mirror Image" for the time being. Thanks to Mommy Lisa, we have two grand-daughters, Victoria (22 years old last August, who completed a post-graduate Culinary Arts course at Vancouver Island University in 2008 and now works as a cook at a high-end Courtenay restaurant), and Amber (17 years old last August, a gymnastics buff, in her Senior year of High School, and coaches gym for the younger set!), all of which qualifies us to be called Gram & Grampy.

If you want to put faces to all of us, you can go to our Family Album Page for a quick look-see.

The Pas Logo I was raised in The Pas in Northern Manitoba ... where even the liquor freezes and thermometerwhere the locals hunt mosquitos with 4-10 shotguns ... :o). And if you think that's bad, when I met Charlene, her family used to go SOUTH to The Pas for their vacation! How cold was it where she was? She remembers once, in Churchill, that the mercury in the thermometer dropped so fast, it bent the nail it was hanging on. But then, I recall once in The Pas that it got so cold, the mercury actually froze; and we had to take the thermometer into the house to thaw it out so we could see how cold it was outside!

Glacier Pic Tourism Logo After having been stationed all over Canada and in two States, we are now lucky enough to be living in British Columbia's own Garden of Eden, the Comox Valley, overlooking the spectacular Comox Glacier and with access to nine (soon to be ten) golf courses in the area.

What a beautiful, has-it-all province !! If you would like to learn more about this marvellous area, you can visit the Comox Valley Tourism page.

My heritage is a Swedish-born father and a French-Canadian mother. I have been compiling our family tree since 1979, and am currently using the commercial genealogy program REUNION 9.0 by Leister Productions, Inc., which I highly recommend to anyone thinking of a similar project. One pundit stated, "A genealogy is like a sex life. Mine is fascinating, yours is a bore ... unless of course, yours crosses mine" [grin]. Actually, my mother taught me about genetics: "You're just like your father!!" You can view and search a selected portion of my family tree by using this button:
