This is a very striking painting/drawing with a Haida Gwaii theme - I painted this one completely from imagination - it just wanted to be painted. The Haida Gwaii are native peoples of British Columbia. I have been influenced by the presence of their culture and art in this province. The Raven is part of their mythology. There is a tension in this painting between the Raven and the human. The ink line drawing is spontaneous and raw and very expressive. The acrylic paint is bright and vibrant and gives the painting texture. The heavy weight paper shows through in many places providing additional texture and interest. This painting is on paper so you will have to have it framed. You can get quite a different 'look' with different frames - see some examples below.
