Night of a Thousand Dinners is an initiative of Adopt-A-Minefield (AAM), a campaign of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), in partnership with AAM Canada, AAM UK and AAM Sweden. It began as an opportunity to come together on a single night, enjoy a meal and help resolve the global landmine crisis. Since its inception in 2001, 4000 dinners have been held in over 50 countries, raising over $4 million.

Don't forget the date!

Today is...
International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action!

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The UN had some hopeful news as the world marked the first International Day for Mine Awareness on Tuesday: It will take perhaps a decade - not hundreds of years - to get rid of millions of landmines in 82 countries.

Max Gaylard, director of the United Nations Mine Action Service, told a news conference on Monday that "continuing donor support is critical" to ridding the world of mines and other unexploded weapons from wars.

He also stressed that deadly anti-personnel mines still prevent millions of farmers from growing crops, children from playing outside and displaced people from returning to their homes.

It's official. Churchill's N1KD ('N of 1K D', get it?) will be taking place on the evening of April 21st.

Specific details will come shortly. Talk to Mrs. Ferrario for more information. Unfortunately, the Chictech crew will be missing out on the dinner because their Poster Presentation at UBC is on the same night!
