LAMPWords News

May. 05, 2007 All development and support of LAMPWords and its dictionaries has now ceased.  Thanks to everyone for their past support.
May. 05, 2007 - New Dictionaries Available (CSW and TWL2)
The new Collins Scrabble® Words international dictionary is now available. Also, an update to the TWL2 dictionary to correct existing mistakes has been released. Both can be found on the Dictionaries Page.
Apr. 01, 2007 - New Version Available!
Although development stopped long ago, a special "cleanup" version that adds some minor functionality I felt was lacking is now available.  Go to the Downloads Page to get it.  This is not an April Fool's joke!

LAMPWords is a program for Palm-compatible handheld devices which anagrams and looks up words. (Hence the name: Lamp and Palm are anagrams.) It is freely available, as are the dictionary databases the program uses. The source code for the program is also available and is released under the GNU GPL.

LAMPWords is probably of greatest use to players of Scrabble® or other word games but it is certainly not limited to that purpose. It is modeled after programs like LeXpert and the old Franklin Electronic OSPD.

LAMPWords runs on any handheld device running Palm OS 2.0 or greater, although at least Palm OS 3.0 is recommended. It requires anywhere from 300KB to 1MB of memory, depending on the dictionary database chosen and the program settings used.

Click here to learn more about LAMPWords. If you think it will be useful, you can download it here. You'll also need to download a dictionary file for the program to use.
