A Class 4 road test may only be taken if you are 18 years or older and hold a valid Alberta Class 5 license.  Additionally, before taking your road test you are required to pass a Class 4 knowledge test, successfully complete a vision screening test, and obtain a satisfactory medical report.  Your knowledge test and vision screening test may be completed at any Alberta Registry Agent office.

Your Class 4 road test usually takes about 30 minutes.  This test is similar to the basic Class 5 road test although you will be required to demonstrate a higher level of skill.  The examiner will explain the test procedures and you will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the test.  If you fail the road test, you may take the test again as early as the next day.
