Grand Knights Message

Greetings Brother Knights,

Greetings from Monsignor Robinson Council #8279.

Summertime is giving away to winter and another Columbian year is in its infancy. I hope your summer has been a relaxing and safe one.

My thanks to all members of our council who have stepped up to take on directors roles in this new year, trust me when I tell you that the rewards of playing a bigger pert in our council activities will be returned to you. At this point we still have positions to be filled and even those that have been filled can certainly use all the assistance that you are able to give.

Over the past few years I’ve come to understand the quality of members the Knights of Columbus hs in this city and especially those I know best, the members of our council. We have seen this year in our own council, and I’m sure in yours, that a number of members, or “would-be” members have not been there. Everyone has their time. Patience is truly a virtue when talking to an inactive or prospective member. Until you become a Knight, it is very difficult to describe what a Knight is and for some, it is something they do as a simple matter of following a paternal example. The best way to lead someone, is to be following someone greater than you in whom you have total faith and commitment. That is something you cannot give to human form alone. People were made to fail and so we rely on that higher power to guide us in everything we do . . . including be good knights. And so, as we start another Columbian year, we remember our opening ode, our closing ode, and hope to encourage each other through everything in between. It is always a challenge to start something new. I know we are all up to the challenge! I look forward to meeting all the new brothers of our council and all the other councils I will have contact with in the coming year. God bless your efforts and your membership.
