During this time they were blessed with four sons and one daughter. In 1974 they moved to Saskatoon and Joe worked in the Uranium mine at Wallaston Lake for ten years until failing health forced retirement. In 2001 they moved to Candiac, Sask. where they have lived since. Joe had two special interests, fishing and gardening which he enjoyed greatly but the thing that gave him the greatest peace and joy was the relationship and love that he expressed for Jesus and his Father. An avid fisherman, card-player, coffee enthusiast, and "Mr. Fix-it", Bill had no trouble occupying his time in his golden years. Sitting quietly at family gatherings (and at any other opportune time), Bill loved to wait for the perfect moment, when, with his uncanny sense of timing, he would interject with his humorous "two-cents' worth."
