Grand Knights Message
Greetings Brother Knights,
We enter this advent with mixed emotions as brothers of this special order. On one hand, we are looking forward to celebrating the day of the birth of our Lord and Saviour, at time when we reach out to each other in good will and extend our hopes and wishes for peace in our troubled world. At the same time, we watch as our soldiers continue to die overseas, our neighbourhoods are increasing havens for petty thieves and even our government seeks to reward a man whose life was dedicated to the killing of unborn children. Yet, here we are, a brotherhood dedicated to the promotion of Catholic and Christian values, left to sometimes wring our hands and wonder what we can do to help. It helps to remember we are never alone in our beliefs. There is strength in numbers. We have constant contact as councils and there are ways to have our support or our protests heard. There are several lists and/or petitions we can add our names to further our beliefs, especially when it comes to those who cannot speak for themselves. Please participate when you can.
Our council is once again sponsoring a New Year’s dance at St. Patrick Parish on December 31st. Tickets are $15.00 per person in advance, $20.00 at the door. The live band is “Three Pack Plus One” whose song repertoire is second to none. There will be a cash bar, party favours and prizes along with a late lunch. Tickets are available from Ron Frehlich (382-7402), Al Wirll (382-1443), Stephan Reagan (382-8745) or the Parish office (384-1100). Come join us and dance into the New Year.
I’d like to take this opportunity to extend our council’s and my own best wishes to all of you for a blessed and holy Christmas season. Remember the reason for the season and all the rest will fall into place, (it does for me, anyway). Keep safe and all the best in the new year.
