About King-Oka

A small Akita kennel located beside King Edward Mountain

in the North Okanagan region of British Columbia

Thank-you for visiting our web page. Our names are Beverly and Geoff Wight. We first became enchanted with Akitas several years ago, after meeting our first Akita, and we immediately knew it was the breed for us. Our goal at King-Oka is focused on breeding structure and temperament. We work to improve upon the breed. Our puppies are carefully placed in homes where they will be loved, trained and taught to become good citizens. We are licensed by the SPCA and the Canadian Kennel Club. At King-Oka, we strive to have all the right ingredients; Beautiful, happy, healthy dogs, the right attitude toward breeding and a mandate to produce only the finest quality puppies. Our adult Akitas have champion titles, sound conformation and loving temperaments. These gentle giants are family members who have been kid tested and are household friendly. Before breeding, our dogs are fully tested for known genetic problems such as Hip Displaysia, Hyperthyroid and Eye disorders. Tests are conducted by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF).
