The Rankin Family
Biography courtesy of The Rankin Family's Website Raylene, John Morris, Jimmy, Cookie and Heather, began touring together professionally in 1989. A year later with the independent release of their second recording “Fare Thee Well Love”, they were signed to Capitol/EMI Music. The label re-released the album in 1992 and it went on to become a platinum seller with the title track finding it’s way to the Disney movie Into the West. “North Country” followed in 1993, another multi-platinum success, containing the popular title track in addition to Borders and Time, Christy Campbell Medley and the Gaelic arrangement Leis An Lurgainn. Their music crossed over many musical styles earning them a fast growing following as well as industry accolades that included Juno and East Coast Music Awards. “Grey Dusk of Eve” and “Endless Seasons” were both released in 1995 followed by Heather, Cookie and Raylene’s best selling Christmas album “Do You Hear What I Hear”. 1998 saw the release of their final album together – aptly titled “Uprooted”. TOGETHER AGAIN: RANKIN FAMILY REUNITES The Rankin Family returns to the concert stage in 2007 showcasing their award winning harmonies and timeless music in their first cross-Canada, 22-city tour in over eight years! Having parted ways in 1999 to spend time with their families and pursue individual interests, this will be the first time they once again share the concert stage. Raylene, Jimmy, Cookie and Heather recently got together in Nashville to workshop new material. The results were phenomenal and will make their way to a disc in the New Year along with a DVD of never before seen concert footage recorded in Vancouver in 1995, set for release December 5th. Missing on tour will be the late John Morris who died tragically in a car accident in 2000. His daughter Molly, who has lent her songwriting skills and considerable talent to the project, will join the group on the road
