You can finally take the Celtic Kids home with you! Creation of the
Celtic Kids, the band's debut CD, was recorded to meet the increasing
demand of audiences who've seen this Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, band in
action.
Band members Luciann Lahey, Josey Lovett, Edward Cross, Alexandra Burke
and Amanda Greaves are all between the ages of 11 and 13. They play the
keyboard, bass, fiddle, acoustic and electric guitar, and spoons. They
sing and stepdance, too! Certainly, this CD is proof that Celtic music is
alive in today's youngsters.
Creation of
the Celtic Kids was recorded live off the floor, which gives it that
"down home" feel and captures the energy in their performance!
You can hear in the tunes how much the kids enjoy performing this
music. They perform quite a bit around Nova Scotia, especially at
different benefits (raising money for the food banks, telethons, etc.) and
are always well received!
For young musicians, they certainly can tackle all of their tunes with
the enthusiasm and skill of musicians much older than they are. Listening
to "Rattlin' Bog," you'll be inspired to sing along -- it's such
a fun song!
Other tracks on the CD are "One Misty Moisty Morning,"
"Miss MacLeod's Reel," "Farewell to Nova Scotia,"
"Swallowtail Jig," "Ash Grove," "Getting Dark
Again," "Trippin' Up The Stairs," "Londonderry Air/St.
Ann's Reel," "Lewis Bridal Song/MacNabb's Hornpipe,"
"King George IV/King's Reel" and "We Remember You
Well."
Certainly, Cape Breton is known for its music and this is one group
that I'm sure we'll be hearing lots from in the future!
