The original concept of the Arnor-class carrier was part of the Kiith Sa's recent move to make Spunj more self-sufficient, and move away from relying on Somtaaw Explorer and Processor ships.  Indented to act as an independent base of operations in deep space, the Arnor-Class carrier is a formidable construction, processing and defense platform.  More than twice the length of a Somtaaw Carrier and much more heavily armed, it is able to hold its own against a medium-sized marauder fleet while building its own array of support craft.

Refits to the carrier have allowed it to hold one research module (top) and additional construction or support modules at the bottom of the main hull assembly.  A second refit to the design in 23 AHL allowed the addition of two micro-seige cannons, perhaps the most controversial move the Kiith has made in some time (seige-equipped Arnor carriers have never entered Hiigaran space and for now, much like the Darklight Station, are just a persistent rumor in the Daiamid).  The two cannons only have a quarter of the power of the Somtaaw's full sized weapon, but recharge in half the time.

The optional lower construction module can build any ship up to and including carriers and dreadnaughts, however it is limited by the fact that the hangar and support modules are mutually exclusive.  A typical Spunj deep-space fleet will consist of one supercarrier, two standard carriers and an array of support, research and resourcing craft.

With the capture of the full-sized construction platform at Darklight Station, the future of the supercarrier is in doubt, as the Spunj now have the ability to create full-sized Explorer ships and similar vessels.  For now however, the six supercarriers in operation will probably remain active for some time.
