Dude, here's the remnants of
my gear after my first sesion of the season. How it ended up in
such a state is quite a story. I blew my first gybe of my first
run of the season on a 80kph day at Keho near Lethbridge, after
the waterstart I hooked in and got launched and tweaked my shoulder.
I water started and sailed closer to shore but I got creamed by
a gust and then I got worked over waterstarting and the board
got picked up and blown down wind. On my swim back to the board
I had a funny thought. My dad had warned"what happens of
you break your arm and lose your board and can't catch it, what
are you going to do, you should wear your life jacket". Well
I caught upto the board swimming with one semi-gimped arm. I
wasn't in real danger, more like missing your bus and having to
walk through the rough end of town, inconvient. Anyway I climbed
on the board and let the winds blow me onshore. After getting
worked in the shore break the sail got pulled out of my hands
and the board took off and ended up doing like three loops before
landing and breaking the mast in two places.
