The Chicken’s Page

As noted on the Chicken Archeologist page, a feral chicken happened by our front garden herb patch in 2004. We named her Ginger and got two more chickens, Angel & Roxy, soon afterwards.

Angel and Roxy hopefully teaching themselves to use the compost barrel for a toilet, as Ginger offers encouragement.

A good view of the right front door of the coop. The windows are Lexan.

The chickens sleep up on the perch bar, which is the handle from an old shovel. The hopper on the left is full of pellets and hen scratch. The flooring in here is a old car mat. The sidewall is translucent Plexiglas.

The chickens slept in this section of the coop at first, but now just lay their eggs in here.

Stephanie & Roxy. April 30

Got two new chicks on April 21. This is them on April 30, around 5 weeks old. A Rhode Island Red and a Black something.

When we had the chicks out in the chicken area (inside a cage), Roxy made some strange ‘intruder alert’ noise.
