The AGM, Three Brothers Traverse, Mt. Assiniboine Ski, the "Kam-loop Bike Tour"

Another Three Brothers AGM

We skied up almost to the summit of Big Buck Mountain that year where Randy and Ryan had come up the night before and made camp.

We helped Ryan did a snow cave where we proceded to have supper and our usual "meeting". Chuck and I had brought up steaks, onions, mushrooms, and red wine. It was quite a site cooking the meal up to the light of candles inside a crowded snow cave!

Do we know how to have fun or what!

Three Brothers Ski Traverse

Keith Akenheaad, Ken Williams, and Keith Rajala spent a night fairly low down with Chris Cooper and a friend and did the traverse over to the area of Buckhorn campsite where we spent a second night.

We skied out the next day in wonderful winter weather.

Mt. Assiniboine Ski Tour

Ken Willis and Keith Rajala made the drive from Maple Ridge up to Canmore and spent the night in one of Canmore's many motels. In the early morning, we drove to the Assiniboine trail head and started our ski up to the Bryant Creek shelters. It was a very nice spring day with temperatures just around freezing. Waxing was a problem because of it.

The next day we did the rest of the ski up to the Naiset cabins and were greeted with better, colder weather. Assiniboine was glorious. It really was postcard material!

The skiing around the area during our stay was very enjoyable although at times the visibility was poor. The weather was fairly cold so waxing was good. Gentle skies could be made to some of the passes without getting into avalanche terrain.

This picture was taken at Wonder Pass.

The cabins were great. Small wood burning stoves kept the cabins toasty warm and the presto logs could be bought over at the lodge. It was a very nice way to spend a few days.

Ken in a contemplative mood.
The ski out took about eight hours.
