Saskatchewan Glacier, Scampi at Cathedral Park, Mt. Macdonald/East Ridge

We made another trip up into the Columbia Icefields during spring break of 1991 hoping for good weather. The picture shows Randy after we had set up our camp at the end of the first day about two-thirds of the way up the Saskatchewan Glacier. The next day we went up on to the top of the Columbia Icefields in a near white out and made a huge quinzee where we sat out two days of storm.

Scampi at Cathedral Park (Southern Interior of B.C.)

Along with Ken Willis and Bill Stewart and their sons, Eric and I took the truck up to the lakes at Cathedral Park. We went up Mt. Quiniscoe and Eric did some fishing.

East Ridge of Mt. Macdonald (Chilliwack Lake Area - Coast Range)

We had heard that the east ridge of Mt. Macdonald contained some good climbing on solid rock so Alan Lizee, Chuck McCafferty, and I headed to Chilliwack Lake and made the hike past Radium Lake up to the Webb - Macdonald col and pitched camp. Mt. Lindeman is in the upper right corner of the picture. It was a very nice spot. For more pictures of this area, go to the Lobster page for 2007.
This morning photo shows the east ridge on the left hand skyline. We traversed to the base of it over some snow and easy ground and started up. You could see that you could also easily keep on traversing over to the south ridge of MacDonald as well.
The picture above shows Alan Lizee relaxing about half way up the ridge.	Here Chuck is leading some of the easy fifth class rock about half way up On the last bit below the summit, we skirted left to avoid some upper fifth climbing.
