Jason Margolis directed and edited three music videos for Vancouver garage rock icons The Evapotators, featuring Nardwuar the Human Serviette. The videos for "Gassy Jack", "Float Plane" and "You Got Me Into This Now You Get Me Out" can be seen on Nardwuar's YouTube page.

Octoberman


Jason Margolis directed and edited a music video for White Whale Records band Octoberman. The video was shot by Lucky Stars cinematographer Shawn Talbot in glorious 16mm.

Kids These Days



Jason Margolis co-wrote, directed and edited a music video for White Whale Records band Kids These Days. The song "Rest Tonight" was featured in the ABC Television series "Life As We Know It" and in Lucky Stars. The music video features monsters, sword fights, butterflies, seagulls, chess matches, sleepwalking, and violence against helpless pinatas.

The video was written with Michael Scholar Jr. and produced by Lara Fitzgerald (CBC's ZeD). The camera team included Scooter Corkle, Kryshan Randel, and Ryan Brown. Art direction by Sarah Hattingh. Puppets supplied by Steam Powered Films.

Danielle Hébert







Jump Communications has produced two music videos for Dark Horse recording artist Danielle Hébert.

Producer Maureen Prentice and director Jason Margolis of Jump Communications and producer Dennis Tal of Diffusion Films received a Music Action grant to produce a music video for the title track from Danielle Hébert's CD Dites Moi, and they received a VideoFACT grant to create a music video for her song "Feel So Alien" from her CD The Alien Suite.


"Dites Moi" was shot at Régis Painchaud's late great Espace Dubreuil in Vancouver. "I Feel So Alien" was shot in several locations, including the UBC Observatory. The crew for the both videos included cinematographer Carl Bessai (director of the features Mothers and Daughters and Emile) and art director Sarah Hattingh. The crew of "I Feel So Alien" also included Steadicam operator Brad Whitlock, editor Rob Wenzek, and gaffer Dylan Aiko Smith (director of The Cabin Movie), with performances from astronomer Dr. Jaymie Matthews of the MOST Space Telescope Project and writer-director Ken Hegan (The Heart of Whistler) as dancing aliens.
