Maureen Prentice is a Vancouver-based producer, actor, writer and founding partner in Jump Communications. She has been working in the film and television industry since 1993. Her debut feature as a producer and actor, Lucky Stars, premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival and and had its US premiere at the Bare Bones International Independent Film Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Lucky Stars is based on a script she co-wrote with the film's director Jason Margolis. Robin Chan of Like Minded Media also produces. She also recently produced the short film Into the Garden with writer-director Glynis Whiting, which screened at the Montreal World Film Festival. Her recent producing credits include the documentary When Girls Do It: An Examination of Female Sexual Predators for the Canadian television network CTV with writer-director Glynis Whiting, and the Crazy 8's short film REM for director Carl Bessai (Lola, Johnny). She recently executive produced the half-hour film No One Suspects the Chinese Guy for producer Robin Chan and writer Henry Mah as part of City TV's CineCity program of Vancouver Stories. Prentice's credit list as a producer boasts several award-winning short films. Brian McKeown's Applaud Or Die!! won a 2000 Leo Award for Best actor (Short Film), as well as nominations for Best Short and Best Writer (Short Film). Tempting Fate, directed by Jason Margolis, won Best Comedy Short at the 2000 Sea to Sky Film Festival. She also produced After Shock, a recipient of a prestigious Director's Guild of Canada KickStart award, and line produced Mon Amour Mon Parapluie, which was nominated for nine Leo Awards in 2002, winning three of them. In addition to producing music videos by Danielle Hébert, Lin Elder, Babe Gurr and ¡Maracujah!, Prentice has produced several commercials, including a 2010 Olympics spot for Telus. Previously, Prentice worked as a production manager on the series "Walking After Midnight" for Space: The Imagination Station and on a one hour documentary for CBC's Witness called Jericho: The Walls Of Silence. She was researcher on the National Film Board documentaries The Sterilization of Lelani Muir and Born at Home. She also served as story department coordinator on the CanWest Global series "Jake and The Kid". As an actor, Prentice has appeared in the feature films Halloween: Resurrection and Follow The Leader, the short films Tempting Fate, Tierheim, and 38 Across, and several television commercials.
