Day 16 - Monday, May 19, 2003

We're up real early today, its time to go home. I pack my trusted camera away and don't take one photo today. We have breakfast and then meet everyone downstairs in the lobby at 6:30 am to catch our 7:00 am bus to the airport. We got to the airport fairly quickly, took our luggage off the bus, said our good byes to Jean-Clement, and hauled our gear to the check in counter. Looks like our bus was the last one to make it to the airport. We get in line and wait. And wait. The two security girls come by and check everyone's passport and documents. We pass. All the lines are moving except ours. We finally get to the check in counter and we are the last ones to do so. We go through security with no problems except that we have some euro dollars still left. July buys a bottle of tequila in the duty free and that only leaves us 15 euros left, souvenirs I guess. We join everyone else in the departure lounge. They call us to board the plane and we take off on our nine hour flight. Just before take off we were able to get better seats on the plane, one with a wider row. This made the flight a little bit more bearable. Those Club seats sure looked nice. We land in Montreal to let off passengers then continue off to Toronto. We have four and a half hours here before our next flight. First thing we do is find a good place to eat. One of the terminals has a Swiss Chalet, oh goody. We jump on the terminal shuttle bus and enjoy a real meal. We work our way back to our terminal, board the plane and head off home to Winnipeg. This is one of the best vacations we've been on and certainly the most stunning in terms of the things we've seen.

There were two travel guides we had with us that we found indispensable. The vacation would have been that much less enjoyable without these. We took them everywhere with us.
Rhodes and the Dodecanese by Lonely Plant for Patmos and the week we spent on Rhodes.
Greece, Athens and the Mainland by DK Eyewitness Travel Guides for our few days in Athens and the Corinth Canal.
They both had maps, information on sites to see, things to do, various schedules, there were lots of pictures, advice, etc. They were both well thumbed by the time we came back home. If you're going on this trip do yourself a favor and get these two guides. Don't be cheap.
