Angie Boxma

Versatile seamstress Angela supports her son Greg,  and makes his jousting clothes. Angie is a strong supporter of the sport, although she refuses to try it!

Carolyn Willekes

Researcher and Horse trainer.   Carolyn is completing her Ph D at the University of Calgary. Her thesis concerns  early Classical cavalry and horse archery, including Sythians, Parthians, Greeks and Romans.  She thinks jousting is just way too modern to be interesting, but  trains horses for it anyway.  She is planning in concentrating this year on Percy, Willow, Jax and Valentino. Percy leads a double life, training to be both catafract and event horse.

Doris Warner

Doris ”retired” as  Chief Squire three years ago, and now “only” works as Ground Crew, Radar’s Squire (and occasional conscience), groom, travelling groom, and babysitter (no, not for the knights, for the STALC Kids).

Robin Beck

Robin is Chief Squire.  She travels with the show, and has been seen putting the knights together and keeping them in line from Langley to Winnipeg, Kalispell  to Red Deer Lake and has made “guest appearances  on the block”  from Tennessee to Colorado.  It doesn’t matter if the event is an international competition,  a barbeque,  a wedding,  fundraiser, a rodeo, or a renaissance faire, Robin brings the show in on time, and creates order out of chaos. This is good, because knights tend to generate chaos!

Robin Trivia: Always travels with a mascot.

 Dale Laberge

The Voice, or “MCSquire”, as she is known, has been announcing for STALC ever since 2000, when she was  given the opportunity to speak  (or, as she puts it “Was handed a costume and a microphone.”)   at  The Soldiers of  the Two Millennia  show at the Museum of the Regiments.  Dale is a keen researcher and trivia buff,  and knows a lot more than she tells about the riders and the horses.  Dale travels to most shows, and often competes in games.

Dale Trivia: She frequently announces from horseback , and has been known to make unusual entrances.

Lois Hannah

Lois is a games rider and a  member of STALC, as well as a founding member of the Left Coast Lancers. She enjoys riding,  and has a grin that rivals Greg’s. She competes on her own horse, Graal, a Canadian.  Lois is also a gifted artist, sculptor and costume maker. She is the costumer for the Left Coast Lancers, both  humans  and equines. Her work has been used for photo shoots as well as competitions.  She  is available to  make custom  gear.

Lois trivia: Also breeds Boxer dogs.

Jeff Paige

Jeff has been involved with Jousting ever since he provided bed-and-bale facilities to the STALC crew in 2005.  Jeff is an avid games rider and strong competitor. When not going medieval on someone, Jeff works in the movie industry. He is a founder of Reel Horse Wranglers, which is based near Winnipeg.

Jeff Trivia: Passionate Polo Player!

Mavis Bruce

Another of the Reel Horse Wranglers,  Mavis competes at the biannual Joust and fundraiser at Cross Creek, near Winnipeg. She is also a polo player, and stunt rider, as well as part-time bushkashi  player.

Mavis Trivia:  Probably the only blond girl ever to be the riding double for Sitting Bull.

Candace Durocher- Squire
Candace has always loved horse and especially loves working with Lucy. She enjoys being a personal squire to her favourite knight, Sir Steve. She also enjoys being able to work ground crew where she is afforded the opportunity to work with other horses, squires and knights. Candace is a Special Education Assistant at her day job and an Event Security Director at her night job. Candace is a mother to two and a step mother to three so time is a valuable commodity. Jousting is a future consideration for her so she works on her horsemanship as often is possible now.
