UPDATE 2004:I received a letter in March 2004 that our romantic Magdalina had passed
away on January 24 from a possible heart attack. She had been dreaming
that her goat had a baby, she awoke and told her son that she was going
to the shed to check on Lalka. She dressed and ventured outside. The family
found her as she was laying in the snow on her way back from the shed..
She was buried 3 days later.. I will keep her close to my heart! Katherina
Boyko, they say her toe is doing fine, but her memory is slowly going,
and there are times she just stays in bed !! Uncle Roman and Aunty Sofia
are doing well, getting somewhat slower, but hanging in.. Aunty has high
blood pressure, and may have had a mini stroke. Uncle, well, while we
were there Nadia explained that he has prostate cancer, but he did not
want to do anything about it.. As he stated, I'm to old, why bother. More
important JULY 3:We called Nadia today to see how everyone was… Katherina Boyko, passed away at the end of May, complications from diabetes. I will miss the twinkle in her eyes. UPDATE 2005:OCTOBERHello everyone, we have just returned from our second trip to Ukraine 05. We attended the wedding of Oleh and Oksanna.. It was a whirlwind three and half weeks. Boy did we work our little ol buns off and there is soooo much to tell. From butchering pigs, creating a working kitchen out of the garage. Trying to rent fridges, stoves, dishes, tables, benches etc to feed 240 people. Making 5 types of sausage. Smoking chicken, ham and sausage in homemade smokers out in the back 40 ... in plus 43 degrees heat! Starting breakfast with a toast of Vodka .. then lunch, supper and of course ending the day at 2:30 in the morning .... We had a ball.. Finally meeting new found family on both my parents sides, there were many tears but so many memories.. Also a two day visit to Cornberg, Germany where Roman was born. I will be adding to the journal in the next couple of months. Stay tuned.
