Hold on my hand, 'Abdu'l-Baha
'Abdu'l-Baha, to Thee I chant, the Center of the Covenant
You are my heart, you are my love.
~
Chorus: Hold on my hand, 'Abdu'l-Baha. (repeat)
~
I need thy favor and bounty; O let me give my life for Thee.
In sacrifice, I pour out my soul. (Chorus)
~
Bridge: "Lowly and tearful, I raise ~ my suppliant hands to Thee
And cover my face in the dust ~ of that Threshold of Thine,
Exalted above the knowledge ~ of the learned,
And the praise of all that glorify Thee.
Graciously look upon thy servant, humble and lowly at Thy door,
With the glances of the eye of Thy mercy,
And immerse him in ~ the Ocean
Of Thine ~ eternal grace."
~
'Abdu'l-Baha, I'm needy and poor; be by my side, help me endure.
I am as helpless as a new infant. (Chorus)
Though I'd be free of all riches, your mercy would fill my true wishes.
You are my wealth, you are my healing. (Chorus) (Bridge)
~
Though I would ever be a king, I'd always need your sweet blessing.
There is none to hold me but Thee. (Chorus)
I need Thee more than I can pray, more than I know, or show or say.
Fill me with rapture, fill me with joy. (Chorus) (Bridge)
~
O Thou Who art the Lord of Lords, allow this poor and lowly one
To hold on the hand of 'Abdu'l-Baha. (Chorus)
'Abdu'l-Baha, to Thee I chant, the Center of the Covenant
You are my heart, you are my love. (Chorus) (Bridge) (verse one) (Chorus)
