Saccidananda

Western mystics have commonly used the phrase “cosmic consciousness” to describe their experience.” "Consciousness" is also a key idea in Hindu philosophy. In fact, consciousness is one of the key terms used to describe the Self (atman). Atman is described in terms of Being (sat), Consciousness (cit) and Bliss (ananda). These are frequently spoken of all together as Saccidananda. By speaking of the Self in terms of consciousness, Vedantic philosophy is aware that it is using the word “consciousness” in an analogical way. In Dooyeweerd’s terms, cosmic consciousness is not to be interpreted as an absolutization of any single temporal aspect of reality.
