Glossary of Terms
Creatures are beings created by God. Some creatures are surpatemporal, like angels, and man in his religious root. The mode of all creaturely being is that of meaning (II, 424). Created beings are non-self-sufficient. Their mode of being is to refer to their Origin in dependence. The temporal world or cosmos has no existence except in its supratemporal root (NC I, 100; II, 53). And this temporal root is also not self-sufficient, but has meaning only in its Origin.
