Artist Statement

I have an inner urgency and passion for clay, as it allows me to indulge my senses into creation.  I enjoy sculpting and hand building forms for the raw tactile connection I experience with the clay.  

I often incorporate my surrounding environment into my art, either indirectly through form or by directly pressing objects into the clay. 

I enjoy texturing my works with rocks, ferns, leaves, and other objects.  I also have a strong affinity for throwing pots on the wheel.

For the sensual feeling of slippery wet clay sliding through my fingers combined with the dynamic of centrifical force.  

I create both functional and non-functional sculpture and tableware.  I enjoy using matt glazes and oxides to achieve a “from the earth” sense for my pottery.  I wish to inspire imagination through the free-spirited individuality of each form  I create.
