What? The 17th Avenue Market is that space where farmers, artisans, market vendors, and artists of all kinds get together with Calgarians to interact. There will be also a big musical component to the event with LIVE free entertainment each day of the Market!

Where? This new unique retailing event will take place outdoors in Tomkins Park along 17th Avenue and 8th Street

When? Every Friday and Saturday from Noon to 5pm starting June 18th and finishing on September 11. Vendor Registration time periods vary from one day to the entire 13 week season.

How? The 17th Avenue Farmers Market is an initiative fully funded by the 17th Avenue Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ). Finally it is important to note that the 17th Avenue Farmers Market is the evolution of the Calgary GreenFest an event that has established a crowd, an a vendor base.

Marketing the Market

We will be using various marketing tools:
1. Bridge banners – These banners can be found all over the city and are unmistakable to drivers. We will be producing 1 banner that is installed and removed in 8 different locations throughout the summer
2. Ads in different publications – We will be publishing our message in a wide variety of printed media.
3. Print Material – We will also printing posters, hand flyers, to make sure we are constantly informing and reminding Calgarians about the market.
4. Large PSA release – we plan to blast all community association listings on all any media possible

Vendors

At the Market we will supply each vendor with a 10x10 space to program and fill as they wish. We hope that each participant will take advantage of the excellent locations and make their booths as inviting as possible.
We will be targeting existing market vendors to participate by attending other markets in Calgary prior to the event giving out “2 day FREE” passes to try us out.
Vendor Requirements
· The vendor is required to clean up a 10 foot area around their space and dispose of any garbage into the waste bins.
· If you are bringing a tent you MUST provide weights for it.
· Vendors are not permitted to use generators

Set up will be 1 hour before the market opens and must be ready to go no later than 15 minutes prior (unless otherwise specified).
