Group Committee Meeting Minutes
January 11th 2012 at 6:49 - 8:25 pm
- Approval of previous minutes, Motioned by Dave B., Seconded by Tricia M., and approved by all.
- Youth Commissioner Report: N/A
- Group Administrator Report: Dale
- MMS replacement has been delayed
- Camp Coyote on June 30 to July 2nd, is being held for Ventures and Rovers at Camp Barnard (all participants must be 14 years or older to attend).
- Recognition of training and awards is at 8%, compared to Nationals 25% and GVA’s 15%
- Warrants of Appointments, Recognitions, Outstanding and Long Service
- Awards, should hopefully handed in, in time for BP Dinner. (Send info to Dale and Stan for forms)
- Cub Car Rally on February 13th at 10:30am
- ROVENT, attendance from this group if there are any are on their own
- BP Banquet is on March 10th, Price of tickets is not yet known
- Friendship Knots, can now replace a woggle on the neckers if so desired, but should be tied by a friend, which has been approved by National.
- There are new forms for leaders and youth alike to communicate over the Internet, but a reminder is to be careful with what you say or type, as not to cause a problem that you may not be prepared to handle. Suspensions are now being considered for such reasons.
- Klondike Derby March 3rd (same date as our ski trip)

- Have not received all the money boxes yet
- Gaming application has been filled out, but we must spend $413.01 by February in order to receive the new gaming funds

- Bottle Drive raised $734.90 on December 18th
- Next bottle drive to be dated
- Badges and prizes have been sent out for popcorn sales

- Scouters 10, average attendance 8
- Donna and Richard completed Wood badge 1
- Only concern is that the locker needs to be cleaned and organised, and it would be nice to see more craft supplies in there, possibly some beads.
- Cubs:
- Youth 12, average attendance 15-18
- Scouters 7, average attendance 4
- 1 New member
- Misty has completed Wood badge 1 training
- Some investitures to be taken place on January 12th
- First Week of Feb. to have a parents meeting to discuss how to pack, back packs

- 1 New member, Dixxie who is to be invested soon
- Cold weather talk at Scout House with Chris and Emily for the youth
- Archery and cold talk at Scout house for leaders

- Food Allergy Awareness Night to be held with Dixxie and her mom
- Canoe training planned to take place throughout the year

- Group concern that there is a lack of youth and a lack of interest in this section
- There is a possibility of connecting with youth from the YAC program in Belmont Park, and in the Schools to see if there are any kids interested in getting involved.

- Misty (Cubs), Richard (Venturers/Rovers), Amanda (Venturers/Rovers), have completed their Wood Badge 1 Training
- Lucas has been invested
- There was a small Rover camp in December
- Planning meeting to be decided on at a later date
- Quartermaster Report: Joe
- Inquiring about funds to replace equipment in the locker
- Cleaning and organizing is ongoing
- New Business:
- BP Dinner, Feb 21st on the Tuesday night there will be no meeting but there will be set up
- Gert had motioned, that as well as having the Potlatch dinner, would to also use some of the gaming funds to pay for some pizza or Chinese food and a cake
- Beavers will be bring, APPIES
- Cubs will bring, Mains
- Scouts will bring, SALADS
- Rovers and Venturer will bring, MAINS and SALADS
- Must be able to feed approximately 150-200 people, so if you dishes can feed approximately 10-20 people
- Please let leaders know by the 15th of Feb. what you plan on making
- THERE ARE SOME MAJOR FOOD ALLERGIES IN OUR GROUP SO YOU ARE REQUIERD TO HAVE A LIST OF ALL INGREDIENTS WITH YOUR DISH AND ITS OWN SERVING SPOON, OR ELSE IT WILL NOT BE PUT OUT TO BE SERVED.
- Such Allergies include RAW CARROTS, and BEEF, (and everything that Brianna is allergic to who will hopefully stay away from whatever she knows is not good for her)
- Gaming funds are to cover, the cake and desserts as well as beverages, not to exceed over $250.00
- Upgrades and replacements need to be made to the equipment in the locker, with the potential of $163.01 remaining form the BP dinner; it will go towards things that need to be taken care of ASAP.
- Link Camp has been postponed until further notice for the year, due to the many overlapping weekend schedules already. However there is a possibility of doing a small family camp in the middle of June, at Goldstream Park, with the final details to be determined by Dale.
- Group campfire night at Goldstream Park set tentatively for April 12th or 19th, details to be figured out by Stan.
- Next Bottle Drive is to be Feb. 18th at 9:30 am, with the prior handout of flyers by the Scouts and there Leaders
- Next Group Committee meeting on March 14th, with the location tentatively planned for Stan’s unless another one is available.
