Interests

I have a number of passing interests, some passing faster than others, and some lingering. These are the ones that I can claim to have a passing knowledge about.

Anime Video: The Pac-Man showed me 'Warriors of the Wind' along with some hentai-anime and I was hooked. I have a few titles - like 'D the Vampire Hunter', a few of the 'Lupin' Series and naturally, La Blue Girl.

Books: I have many, many books, mostly science fiction and fantasy. When Pac-Man closed out his later collections I gained a lot of older sci-fi and fantasy series.

Collector Cards: Avoiding the 'gaming cards', I do collect sports cards and previously fantasy and science fiction art cards. Sports cards are pretty self-explanatory. Art Cards are generally those that relate to non-comic real art - some of my favorites are Hajime Sorayama, Luis Royo, the Brothers Hildebrandt and of course, Boris and Bell. I particularly like the FPG works of Easley and Parkinson.

Doctor Who and Daleks: "Exterminate the Doctor"

Herpa 1/500 Scale Commercial Airliner Collection: I am also interested in commercial jets and have many small scale miniatures of these. I have most versions of all the variations now and am concentrating on finding interesting markings.

Lapel Pins: well who doesn't collect them these days - I did it before it was trendy.

Military Hardware History: By this I mean that I generally know a good bit about planes and the like, some about the tanks, and less about the ships. I am interested in WWII and after technology and have many Squadron books on the same. I have made models and I collect 'high priced' wooden or ceramic plane models.

NASCAR: My current interests now include NASCAR 1/24 car's. I will talk about this, and more, on my NASCAR page. You can get there from my main page.

Pinball: Pinball has always been a favorite PC game of mine starting right back in the PCjr days when Pac-Man created his own tables using an early pinball editor - some of the tables were so complex, they crashed the 128K memory of the system. (That's right 128K - we are talking PC junior here - you know, before Windows and Bill Gates). Then we moved onto the Amiga era and now on the PC's. See my never-ending battle with Pac-Man for the title of undisputed Pinball Overlord in the pages of Lord Bailey.

Sci-Fi TV and Movies:

  • Babylon 5 - I try not to miss any episodes.
  • Battlestar Galactica - it was bad, but it was the best around at the time.
  • Space 1999 - Gotta love that Eagle. The Pac-Man gave me a metal version after his wedding (Eagle lasting longer than wedding). Hard to get these days so I keep it safe.
  • Star Trek - Well, you know.... I have several Franklin Mint productions of the various ships.
  • Star Wars - Same as above

Southpark: "They killed Kenny".... "You bastards"

The Tick: SPOOOOOOOOON!!!!! (Pac-Man may have introduced me to the Tick , I forget)

VGA Planets: Great Game, for a while I considered getting the registered version and joining some games. My friend Lord Lorenzo C. Bailey was undisputed leader of that entire universe. In my war gaming (fantasy role playing) days I was the companion of Ssith the Destroyer, a prominent figure in the VGA Planets universe. We both followed the rule of Lord Bailey.

You may have gotten the impression that I collect things. Pac-Man continues to suggest I am a pack-rat. He may be right; he claims he is always right so there must be the odd time it is true.

R & R

When I am not golfing, which is most of the year in Edmonton (Pac-Man wrote that) some of my favourite vacation places are:

  • Disneyland, Universal Studios and San Diego Zoo, where I have an affinity for Elephants.
  • Vancouver Island - I Like to visit Fort Rodd Hill when in Victoria and see the old Military complex.
  • Reno.
  • Disneyworld and surrounding environs.
  • Las Vegas.

When Pac-Man used to live in Edmonton, both originally, and then when he returned before he departed (he does that), we used to spend a lot of weekends playing various Fantasy Role Playing Games, most recently Role Master Standard System. That has fallen by the wayside until such a time as he again returns to Edmonton.
