Dwayne Dwibbley and the Team Whump Vegas+ Tour 2004

February 21st to March 12th
Trip Report

Disclaimer

As master crew chief, Dwayne Dwibbley, for Team Whump, it behooved me to attend to Falcon during the Team Whump Vegas 2004 Tour. Just to make sure he got in the minimal amount of trouble. My error, as pointed out by Falcon several times, if that I did not relieve him of the camera. I am therefore not claiming any responsibility for this page. While Falcon Whump has no discernable talent outside of a stock car seat, he does have friends who possess scary computer abilities. They have obviously hijacked my web site and planted this page without my participation, or probably permission.

Here is the trip as it happened, according to the tale of the lens. For the full write-up, gory details, and strangely enough, no falsehoods, please visit the Team Whump Vegas 2004 Tour. While there, besides the write-up, you can view up to 500 (Degraded quality) pictures showing all the places we went and things we did. This page, however, is all about me.

Day 1: Not a terribly warm start to the trip, but we always go on deck as the BC Ferry goes through active passage.
Falcon continues to claim I was asleep at the wheel. Obviously, I wasn't but potential facts don't interest Falcon half as much as circumstantial evidence.
Day 2: Not really a picture of me, but I happen to be in it. We start to see some interesting coastline this morning.
We arrive at a piece of beach as the itinerary demands quality beach time for the day.
Well, it's nice on the beach. Having already told Falcon I don't photograph well, he sets out to prove otherwise. This is before he tells me about the striding into the ocean part of quality beach time.
Upon dire threat of consequences, I sally forth.
That's as wet as I need to be. The fact that Falcon has no remaining dry parts on his jeans does not tempt me to join him in an afternoon of soggy conditions once we get back on the road.
OK, that's enough water time. Its more fun to build a mini fort (or piece of indescribable architecture) for the sea to destroy later when the tide comes in.
Day 3: This road sucks. Time for a breather and then I have to get out the maps and get us away from this. Very slow, very windy, very scary.
Day 4: On the Larkspur ferry as we travel to San Francisco the easy way. It is about now that I question if Falcon is going to take pictures of everything through the whole trip. Silly question really.
Phoning mom to see if she can send bail to get me out of Alcatraz.
Here, I am having a quick look inside cell 102 in Alcatraz. Prisoners used to spend 18 hours a day in their cells, if they were well behaved and got work in the yard or mess hall, otherwise 22 hours a day. I spent 20 seconds or so.
Back in Frisco, this is a small experimental sub near the U.S.S. Pampanito. Falcon wanted me in the shot to show the size of the thing.
It's probably my own fault for suggesting the concept of a walk. Actually, it must be my own fault because Falcon blamed it on me with great repetition. We climbed to the top of Frisco several times. Luckily for me, I am better shape than Falcon so he was unable to ever really catch up and hit me with the rolled up newspaper he was wildly waving whenever he was not taking pictures.
I continue to pull away. This is actually the second hill as we near the top of Russian Hill.
It may only be 9mph, but the downward trip on the cable car is faster and a heck of a lot easier.
Day 6: Fast forward to Long Beach. This is the remnants of military hardware on board the Queen Mary.
Day 7: We take a break in Universal Studio's. Here I have found a seat and have my little friend Margarita with me.
Now, I make this look goooood!
Day 8: Lots of walking at the San Diego Zoo. But right now, its all aboard the Sky Tram which breaks down promptly as we board. We sit and swing.
Day 9: Starting the say at Seaworld, San Diego right. Communing with a Killer Whale.
Shipwreck Rapids was one of today's favourites. The first time down, it was just me and Falcon, He was going down backwards and he got wet and I didn't. Second time, not so lucky
Seems that some of the water wasn't from the stream but from the enemy.
REVENGE!
Avast!
Day 10: Disneyland: Able to stop a small planet, or a big ball of water powered rotating granite, simply by a tap of effort followed by a quick pose before it once again proves victorious.
According to Falcon, this is not worthy of earning a Whump nickname.
Okay, now the Camera's getting annoying. Put it down and pick up the paddle.
Wheeeee. According to Falcon though, even though I technically beat him this race, possibly from starting a lap or so ahead, I'm still not a Whump yet. Man that's hard.
Day 11: California: Now this will move the wreckage off the track and back to the garage double time. Dwayne and his Cat 95E
Okay, he got me on the Ferris Wheel (Sun Wheel) but only one of the stationery's.
Day 13: Falcon pulls off a surprise when he directs me to drive to the Orleans where we find several team haulers, including Bobby's.
Day 14: Before we head to the track, we wandered the strip and look what we found. One of Schrader's cars.
Day 19: At the Museum of Flight, we find all sorts of new toys, including climb in cockpits. This is an F18 by the way
Checking out the status for a pre-flight check in my personal SR71
Just having a look at the interior of a 737-200.
Believe it or not (believe it), here I am in Air Force One - the original Air Force One.

Hope the photo journey of my part of the Team Whump 2004 Tour was of passing interest. Y'all come back now, ya hear.
