NASCAR Die Casts

Return to Jeff Vanderwell's Main Page

Introduction

A few words of introduction before we begin my review. First, all cars but one are 1:24th scale and the vast majority of the cars I own were produced by Action Collectables. Action took over production of Revell a few years back and produced die-casts under both labels for a year or two, and maybe still do for all I know. I will try to remember, as I go along, to mention other companies that have produced die-casts that I have in my collection. These include: Team Caliber, Revell, before becoming a part of Action, Racing Champions and Hot Wheels.

Second, I would like to thank Wayne Wagner of Wayne's Sports Cards in Edmonton for setting up contacts in the U.S. to bring these cars in for me. I know he has gone through a lot of effort and frustration in dealing with some of the supplies, shipping companies and of course, good old Canada Customs. We've hit quite a dry spell for getting new cars from Wayne but he also gets in 1:24th scale cases, to display the cars in, at really good prices. I'd also like to thank Graham Tranter for helping me get this web page up and running. Graham and I go way back and have gone to two NASCAR races together, in Las Vegas in 2000 and Phoenix in 2002. We are currently planning a second trip to Las Vegas in 2004.

Finally, my desire to obtain these cars has slowed considerably. The means of getting die-casts has grown lately, a few new store here at home, online actions, online buying through the U.S., etc. but I find few new cars that I need to add to my collection. There is also beginning to become a space problem in my home. I hope you enjoy the pictures, taken by my good friend, Graham, and my write ups on the cars. Any new car die-casts that I acquire, will go at the bottom of this list when a suitable picture and write up are produced.

Individual Cars & Drivers

Bill Elliott

#9 Dodge Intrepid R/T (bank) (2001)

Dodge was back as a manufacturer in 2001 and signed on one of the most popular drivers ever, to help their cause. The Dodge Dealers of America sponsored the car and with Bill Elliot driving, I think that Dodge can claim success with their endeavor. This model is a nice car but it does come with the blacked out windows which means there is no interior detail. I have a few cars like this and it is a major strike against every one. Still, I'm glad to have it in my collection. This car was purchased through Wayne's Sports Cards In Edmonton, Alberta.

Bobby Allison

#22 Chevy Monte Carlo (bank) (1985)

I'm not exactly sure what year this model was built but it does depict a 1985 Monte Carlo. A well done model and fairly different in style from the other NASCAR models I own but once again, the blacked out windows are annoying. I wasn't into NASCAR back in 1985 but try to watch Classis NASCAR on Speed TV whenever possible. The car is sponsored by Miller Beer and I acquired this die-cast on the Yahoo auction site at a good price.

Bobby Labonte

#18 Pontiac Grand Prix (2000)

My first die-cast and my favorite driver. I picked up this piece in Las Vegas in March of 2000 when my good friends Michael and Graham, and myself (Team Whump International) went down for the NASCAR weekend. It was my first ever live race and it was a wonderful time despite a third of the race being rained out. Jeff Burton won the race and I don't remember where Bobby ended up but the experience was still well worth the costs and effort. The car is sponsored by Interstate Batteries.

#18 Pontiac Grand Prix (Small Soldiers) (1998)

Not one of my favorite Bobby Labonte cars but finding NASCAR die-casts in Edmonton, a few years back, was nearly impossible so I jumped on this car when I first saw it. It depicts a character from the movie Small Soldiers as well as fake bullet holes and is a black and orange paint scheme. Interstate Batteries is still the primary sponsor and the die-cast was found in a small store, "Speed", in West Edmonton Mall. Unfortunately, "Speed" closed out of business in 2003 limiting my options of places to find NASCAR merchandise.

#18 Pontiac Grand Prix (Championship) (Chrome) (2001)

This car was put out to commemorate Bobby Labonte's Winston Cup Championship in 2000. A very nice car done in a bright green chrome finish. As always, the car is sponsored by Interstate Batteries and sits proudly in my living room. Another car found for me by Wayne of Wayne's Sports Cards. 2000 was a good year!

#18 Pontiac Grand Prix (Cal Ripkin Farewell) (2001)

Cal Ripkin and Bobby Labonte on the same car, what more is there to say? The car is black and orange, a step away from your usual Labonte colours but it works very well. The car, sponsored by Interstate batteries, was once again found at Wayne's Sports Cards.

#18 Chevy Monte Carlo (Advair) (2003)

Yes, Bobby Labonte and company have jumped ship from Pontiac to Chevy in 2003. I knew the moment that I saw this car race that it need to be in my collection when it was produced into a die-cast. The "Advair" car comes in the most fantastic shade of purple I've ever seen on a car. I bought a wall mounted case, a few years back, to keep the fifteen cars I truly love, and believe me, this is a keeper. Advair takes over the sponsorship of this car, for this race. The car was found at Comix Hobby in West Edmonton Mall.

Dale Earnhardt Sr.

#3 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

I don't know what more can be said about Mr. Earnhardt. He was a true champion and a legend while still competing in the sport he loved. My friend, Graham, who never had a sports hero in his life, finally found one with Dale Earnhardt. We did get a chance to see Dale race at the Las Vegas 400 in March of 2000 and for this, I'm thankful. A lot of people never get to see a legend, in person, but we got the opportunity. The car seen here is the Winston "No Bull 5" winner and from straight of the box it says: "special speedway spoilers on roof and deck lid as seen in victory lane with battle damage". Kind of a cool car with the damage he sustained during the race. The car was, of course, sponsored by Goodwrench Service, was made by Revell and as per usual, supplied by Wayne's Sports Cards. This model lives on top of my bedroom TV stand along with a Bobby Labonte Car, a Dale Earnhardt collector plate, and autographed cards from each of these two drivers. Yes Graham, you get the Sr. card in my will and I do watch my back at all times.

#3 Oreo Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

This car was produced by Revell Select and is sponsored by Goodwrench Service Plus and Oreo Cookies. I found this car in a small, curio shop in West Edmonton Mall and probably paid way too much for it but I do like it a lot. It sits in my fifteen car, wall mounted display unit for only cars I truly cherish. I got this car after his untimely death at Daytona so I guess that makes it a little more special.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

#3 Chevy Monte Carlo (Chrome) (Bank) (1999)

This car was made to commemorate "the last lap of the century" and is of Junior in his Busch racing days. The car comes in a very nice, high lustrous blue finish. The car was sponsored by AC Delco and was obtained at "Speed" in West Edmonton Mall which, unfortunately, has since gone out of business. This car is also my first die-cast bank that came with clear windows and a detailed interior that I find far superior to the blacked out windows which my other "bank" die-casts come with.

#8 Chevy Monte Carlo (2001)

This is by far my favorite Dale Jr. die-cast. The red paint scheme and the graphics compliment each other very well. My friend, Graham, acquired this car for me in Las Vegas when he went down to see the 2001 NASCAR race. Budweiser is now Junior's sponsor and this car, proudly, shares a shelf with his fathers die-cast in my "top fifteen" display cabinet in my living room.

#8 Chevy Monte Carlo (MLB All-star Game) (2001)

Dale Jr. drove this car in one race to promote the 2001 All-Star Baseball game in Seattle, Washington. A nice design for the car features red "stitching", like a baseball's stitching, across the bottom of the car that is mostly white. Budweiser is still the main sponsor of the car and thanks to Wayne's Sports Cards for getting this for me. This is a Revell produced die-cast.

Dale Jarrett

#88 Ford Taurus (2000)

This is a nice car and I got it at a real good price from Comix Hobby in West Edmonton Mall. The car is sponsored by Ford Quality Care and with Dale going to a new sponsor in the next year, this car was run in a race to commemorate the relationship between Dale and Ford Quality Care. A well done effort.

#88 Ford Taurus (2001)

Dale Jarrett is back in 2001 with a new sponsor in U.P.S. courier. The car has also changed in colour scheme to brown and gold to reflect the change of sponsor. This is another Revell die-cast and is a "raced version" of the car with the dirt and damage sustained throughout the course of a race. The car was purchased at Wayne's Sports Cards in Edmonton.

Dave Marcis

#71 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

Dave Marcis had a long 35 year career in NASCAR racing but in 2002, after driving in only one race, he decided to retire. This particular model was found in Phoenix , on the midway of the Checker Auto Parts 500 in November of 2002. I really liked the camouflage paint scheme of his Realtree sponsored car and since I all ready had bought three die casts that day, figured one more couldn't hurt. I got to admit that the $20.00 price tag was also a big factor in the decision This is, yet again, another Revell built die-cast and has a real nice look to it.

Jack Sprague

#24 Chevy Monte Carlo (2002)

Jack Sprague driving a car in the Netzero car in the Busch Series is the next die-cast in my collection. Netzero moved the car to the Winston Cup in 2003, renumbering it to 0, but Sprague did not last long with this ride. This is one of four cars that I bought from NASCAR.com and it is a very pleasant looking model.

Jason Leffler

#2 Dodge Super Truck (The Hulk) (2003)

My first, and at this point, my only truck die-cast. The trucks run in the Craftsman series of NASCAR and I really like the looks of this die-cast. Purple, silver and the green of the Hulk go together well. ASE Carquest in the main sponsor of Jason and this truck was found at Comix in Kingsway Garden Mall, a sister store of Comix in West Edmonton Mall. I had to add my first die-cast truck to my "top fifteen" favorite display cabinet.

Jeff Burton

#99 Ford Thunderbird (1997)

Outsides of the 1985 Bobby Allison Monte Carlo, which was probably made in the past few years, this is the oldest model I currently own, as well as the only Thunderbird in my collection. The Exide sponsored car is purple and black, that go together well but the car does have the blacked out windows which detract from the overall look. The die-cast was found in the now defunct "Speed" in West Edmonton Mall.

Jeff Gordon

#24 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

Love him or hate him, one has to admit that Jeff Gordon can sure drive a race car. His cars, also, have some of the nicest paint schemes ever to be applied to a stock car. Wayne, of Wayne's Sports Cards, got this car in and it took months of negotiations to convince him that it would look better in my collection than his, he finally, but reluctantly, agreed. Dupont is the primary sponsor of "The Rainbow Warrior" car and holds a place in my "top fifteen cabinet".

#24 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

Another car from Jeff Gordon has "NASCAR 2000" on the hood of the car. The car is silver with has a stripe across the hood changing from yellow to orange to blue, like the NASCAR logo itself. A beautiful looking car and a personal favorite, it would be in the top fifteen cabinet except that I already have a Jeff Gordon car in this display. The car was found in "Speed" in West Edmonton Mall, now out of business, and Dupont is the Jeff's primary sponsor.

#24 Chevy Monte Carlo (2001)

This die-cast was created to commemorate Jeff's victory at the Las Vegas 400 in 2001. The Rainbow Warrior look is gone but the new paint job looks good. Dupont is, once again the primary sponsor and this model comes from Wayne's Sports Cards and is a Revell model. My friends, Michael and Graham attended this race in Vegas.

Jerry Nadeau

#25 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

This is one of five (I think) cars painted for the five branches of the U.S. military. Jerry's car depicts the U.S. Coast Guard and has a coast guard cutter on the hood as well as the emblem of the coast guard just behind the door panels. A nice looking car in red, white and blue, the name "Michael Holigan" is prominently displayed on both the hood and back quarter panel. According to five minutes of research on the web, Michael Holigan is an expert on home renovating. This was the second car I got through an auction on Yahoo actions and it was a good price, in my opinion.

John Andretti

#43 Dodge Intrepid R/T (2002)

I didn't go into Comix in Kingsway looking for a John Andretti car but once I saw it in the display case, I knew that it was the car I was leaving with. The light blue and yellow swirled on the fenders and doors is very impressive. Cheerios is the biggest sponsor on the car but General Mills food products adorn the rest of the car. John, unfortunately, no longer drives this car, or for Petty Enterprises, but I hope his NASCAR days continue. This Team Caliber produced car is just to nice to be left out of the top 15 display case.

Johnny Benson

#10 Pontiac Grand Prix (2002)

I write this review a few days after Mr. Benson learned that he will lose his ride with MB2 Motorsports driving the Valvoline Pontiac. I tough break for somebody, from all appearances, seems to be a great person. I've enjoyed Johnny on "Inside Winston Cup" on Speed TV. for a couple of years now and have heard, on numerous races, how safe and competent he is behind the wheel. I hope Johnny finds a new ride, soon. This was another car I purchased on line through NASCAR.com. Johnny's #10 die cast also makes the top fifteen display case.

#10 Pontiac Grand Prix (2002)

This is one of only a handful of cars, that I own, made by Racing Champions. A lower quality standard is made up with some more interesting paint schemes. Johnny Benson's Pontiac is sponsored by Zerex and is white, green and dark blue with a yellow stripe running across the front fender and door. A very inexpensive car, I found it at Walmart, about the only department store, here in Canada, that ever gets NASCAR stock in.

Kenny Schrader

#36 Pontiac Grand Prix (Bank) (2000)

A classis car with the M&M's figures adorning the car. Bright yellow and M&M's make it a favorite with most everybody I know. The blacked out windows are still a pain, but I still love this car. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Schrader in Phoenix, 2002. What a classy individual he turned out to be. Not only did he sign a 8 by 11 picture, he also took the time to personalize to me. After he finished signing, I got a few extra minutes to chat before he was off. The car was the first car that I bought from "Speed" in West Edmonton Mall, a couple of years before they folded the store. Look for Ken Schrader, along with Johnny Benson and Michael Waltrip on "Inside Winston Cup, on the Speed channel on Monday nights.

#36 Pontiac Grand Prix (Dark Chrome) (2002)

A classic die-cast in every detail. This car has the Halloween paint scheme that Kenny's team has run for the past few years. This is a Team Caliber model as well as a dark chrome variety that gives the car a dark luster. This car has the lowest production run of any car I have with only 540 copies made. Amazingly, I got it at a fantastic price, in 2002, at the NASCAR race track in Phoenix. Between Kenny being dropped by both his race team as well, as sponsor "M&Ms", and the fact it was near the end of the racing year, this car and other Schrader merchandise was going dirt cheap. This car, definitely, lives in the top fifteen cabinet. Good luck to Mr. Schrader with BAM Racing.

#36 Pontiac Grand Prix (2 cars) (2002) sorry, no photos

Two more cars driven by Ken Schrader from Racing Champions that I picked up at Walmart. One is the M&M's Fourth of July celebration car and the other is sponsored be "Pedigree" dog food, the paint scheme that Kenny ran in the Phoenix race in 2002 that I and the rest of (Team Whump) attended. I've never took these models out of their boxes and didn't think a good picture could be taken with them still in their original packaging.

Kenny Irwin

#28 Ford Taurus (The Joker) (1998)

Regrettably, just a month before his 31st birthday, Kenny Irwin died in an accident at the New Hampshire Speedway on July 7, 2000. I do feel sad about any driver who dies on the track from Mr. Earnhardt to Adam Petty to Kenny Irwin. I had looked at this particular die-cast in the window of Comix, in West Edmonton Mall, for a long time before deciding I really did like it. This is, once again, a Revell model, featuring the Joker of Batman fame. I believe that Dale Jarrett drove the car depicting Batman. Kenny's sponsor for this car was Texico-Havoline.

Kerry Earnhardt

#12 Chevy Monte Carlo (2002)

The only other driver, besides Kenny Schrader, that I have ever got to meet was Kerry Earnhardt, at a downtown shopping mall in Phoenix in November of 2002. NASCAR and the city of Phoenix held a official reception for the drivers during the weekend of racing. Long lines formed around every driver who could make it to this event and I waited in the line to meet Kerry. I got another 8 by 11 photo signed and my picture taken with Kerry but, regrettably not much of a chance to chat. The Supercuts sponsored car is very well done and sits in my "favorites" display case with his father's and brother's cars. NASCAR.com was the provider of this NASCAR Busch Series car.

Kevin Harvick

#29 Chevy Monte Carlo (2001)

Talk about being put into one of the most awkward and truly difficult situations imaginable, try being asked to race the car that Dale Earnhardt would have driven if he had not died as a result of an accident at Daytona. True the colour of the car changed to white and the number to 29, but still the pressure that Kevin Harvick must of lived under must of been tremendous. But, only in his third Winston Cup race, Kevin won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Kevin picked up the sponsorship of Goodwrench Service Plus and the car was brought in by Wayne of Waynes Sports Cards and offered to me. The car sits in "my favorite" top fifteen cabinet.

#29 Chevy Monte Carlo (E.T.) (2002)

I was never a big fan of the movie E.T. but I am a big fan of the E.T. paint scheme on Kevin's car. I passed the first time I saw this car and when I went back to get it, it was gone. But, as usually is the case, Wayne of Wayne's Sports Cards stepped in and saved the day by getting this die-cast for me. GM. Goodwrench continues to sponsor the #29 car and as per Jeff Gordon, this car would be top ten if I already didn't have a Kevin Harvick in my top 15 case.

Kurt Busch

#97 Ford Taurus (2002)

Team Caliber Die-casts are incredibly hard to find in this neck of the woods so when I saw this Kurt Busch "Rubbermaid" car at Comix in Kingsway Garden Mall, it was a no brainer. A great looking car and a up and coming driver make this an attractive piece. I think that driving for Jack Roush and with the likes of Mark Martin and Jeff Burton providing guidance, Kurt will be a force in this sport very soon.

Kyle Petty

#45 Dodge Intrepid R/T (2002)

Kyle's Sprint sponsored car was one of two cars that were on my list when (Team Whump International) headed to Phoenix in November of 2002. I like the black, red and silver paint used on his car. My feelings about Kyle and his driving ability are mixed. Maybe he should get out of trying to run Petty Enterprises and concentrate more on just the driving. But on the other hand, how can you overly criticize a driver who stops his car, giving up track position, to make sure that Bobby Labonte gets help getting out of his badly, burning car. As it turned out, the safety crews got to Bobby fast, but I have no doubt that Kyle would have attempted to assist Bobby if the circumstances had been different. A pretty car that also makes "the favorites" display cabinet.

Mark Green

#63 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

This is yet another car that took me by surprise when I first saw it at the now closed out "Speed" in West Edmonton Mall. This time, though, I didn't hesitate buying this wonderful NASCAR Busch die-cast. I think this was my second Team Caliber produced model. The black and orange striping on the sides, roof and trunk of this car were well done. Exxon Superflo Motor Oil is the sponsor of this Mark's car.

Mark Martin

#6 Ford Taurus (2002)

This was my number one choice of die-cast, that I was searching for, as we (Team Whump International) set out for Phoenix in 2002, the Mark Martin "Viagra" Ford. It's a top of the line, Owners Series in the Team Caliber lineup which are highly detailed and have a low production run. It was the one model, that I bought in Phoenix, that did cost a fair chunk of change but what a fantastic die-cast. Of course, it sits in the "top fifteen" cabinet in my living room. We listened to Mark on a scanner in Las Vegas, in 2000, and I found him quite entertaining as he chatted to his crew chief and spotters during the race.

Michael Waltrip

#15 Chevy Monte Carlo (Daytona Winner) (2001)

Michael's victory at the Daytona 500 in early 2001 had to have been the most bitter sweet victory anybody could ever have. Imagine winning your first ever Winston Cup race and right during the celebration find out that your boss and friend, Dale Earnhardt, had been fatally injured on the last lap of the race. It would be interesting to know how Mike feels about that day two and a half years later. The die-cast I have commemorates the car he drove to victory and features the signature of all of his race team?, or so I believe, on the car itself. This is a Revell model, purchased at Wayne's Sports Cards and is sponsored by NAPA auto parts.

#15 Chevy Monte Carlo (Stars & Stripes) (2001)

This was second Michael Waltrip, Winston Cup car that I have acquired. A very good effort on the paint scheme, good enough for a spot in my favorites cabinet. NAPA auto parts is once again the primary sponsor and was picked up at Wayne's Sports Cards here in Edmonton. You can see Michael on Inside Winston Cup on Speed TV. on Monday Nights. He and Kenny Schrader are usually quite funny together.

#99 Aarons Rent Chevy Monte Carlo (2003)

Michael Waltrip, on occasion, likes to try his luck in the NASCAR Busch series and when he does, he races in the Aaron's Rental Monte Carlo. I had seen this in a 1:64th scale car but my patience was rewarded when I found this die-cast in 1:24th scale in Comix Hobby in Kingsway Garden Mall. A very nice looking machine for Mikey to drive when he gets a chance to drive a Busch race.

Mike McLaughlin

#18 Pontiac Grand Prix (2002)

Before Coy Gibbs was giving the opportunity to drive the MNBA Chevy in the NASCAR Busch Series, in 2003, Mike McLaughlin held the reins of this attractive car. Driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, Mike, in 2002, finished fourth in the NASCAR Busch Series despite not winning a race, that year. The black, silver and green colours on this car seems to work really well. This was the fourth car of four that I purchased through NASCAR.com.

Robbie Gordon

#31 Chevy Monte Carlo (Reverse Paint) (2003)

I got to admit that I have mixed feelings about Robbie. On the road tracks at Sear's Point and Watkin's Glen, Robbie races about as well as anybody else on the track. Once he gets on an oval track though, he seems to be always in the middle of a heck of a lot of accidents. One thing is for sure though and that is this particular die-cast, that I picked up at Comix Hobby in Kingsway Garden Mall, is brilliant. Reverse Paint means what is usually black, on the paint scheme, is now orange and what is usually orange, is black. A beautiful car this Cingular Wireless sponsored car is.

Robert Pressley

#77 Ford Taurus (2000)

This was the first Team Caliber die-cast that I had ever seen in Edmonton and with the nice colours and graphics, decided I had to get it. "Speed", in West Edmonton Mall, before they closed up shop, was the store that I acquired this Jasper Engines sponsored model from. Robert ran 34 races in the 2000 Winston Cup Series with one top five finish.

Sterling Marlin

#40 Dodge Intrepid R/T (2001)

Sterling was probably the second big named driver that Dodge brought on to drive their cars with Dodge's return to Winston Cup racing in 2001. Dodge had to be thrilled with their choice as Sterling, driving the "Coors Light" Intrepid R/T, finished third in standings in 2001 along with two victories in that year. This overall silver car, with orange, white and black accents was found at Wayne's Sports Cards here in Edmonton.

Terry Labonte

#5 Chevy Monte Carlo (2000)

Terry is a two time Winston Cup champion and by this point next year, if he continues to race, he will pass the 800 start mark. Quite a career. For as long as I can remember Terry has driven a car sponsored by Kellogg's and this car promotes "Cherry Berry Swirls" a new cereal at the time, that I don't think every really caught on, or, at least, I've never seen it here in our supermarkets. Another car found in "Speed", now out of business, here in Edmonton at West Edmonton Mall. Let's hope that with a victory in 2003 and a strong season in Winston Cup this year that Terry comes back in 2004.

Todd Bodine

#66 Ford Taurus (2001)

This is another car that I would not think I'd want until I saw it at Wayne's Sports Cards. What a beautiful car. Sponsored by K-Mart, this car has three distinct shades of blue in the paint scheme. I got to admit that is the one car that I regrettably cannot fit into my living room "top 15" cabinet. The three Bodine's Brett, Geoff and Todd have combined to run over 1200 NASCAR Winston Cup races as well as competing in NASCAR Busch races and NASCAR Craftsman truck races.

Tony Stewart

#20 Pontiac Grand Prix (2001)

I do like the orange and white pain scheme of Tony's Home Depot sponsored car, so much so, as it sits in my fifteen favorites cabinet in my living room. Wayne of Wayne's Sports Cards brought in this car and once again I passed a number of times on buying it. Fortunately, when I came to my senses and realized how much I liked it, the model was still in the display case.

Ward Burton

#22 Pontiac Grand Prix (1999)

This die-cast is my one and only 1:24th scale model produced by Hot wheels. I found this car in a comic, toy and c.d.-record sale that was held a couple of years back in an old aircraft hanger at the Edmonton Municipal Airport. This Caterpillar sponsored car is the only model I have that you can actually remove the body of the car revealing the engine, roll frame and other interior details. This is also the 15th car in my favorites cabinet and probably the first car out of the cabinet if I acquire a die-cast I like better, on the bubble, so to speak.

Dale Earnhardt Sr., Dale Earnhardt Jr., Andy Pilgrim and Kelly Collins

#3 Chevy Corvette C5R (Raced Version) (Chrome) (1:18th scale)

This is an absolutely gorgeous model that I'm proud to have in my collection. Made by Action, I bought this model from an acquaintance who I guess wanted the cash more that this work of art. This Corvette was driven during the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona in 2001. This model sits, all by itself, in a shelving unit in my living room. GM Goodwrench Service is the sponsor of this car.

Complete & Partial Sets

The Muppet Collection 2002

Set of eight cars that include:

I ordered this entire set from Waynes Sport's Cards in Edmonton pretty much unseen. I had missed out on a complete set of the Looney Tunes Cars from the year before and did not want to run into the same problems with this collection, so I pre-ordered the whole batch. I got to admit that I am a tad disappointed with the set. The Loony Tunes set from the year before was much nicer and I did get most of them. Unlike the Looney tunes from the year before, at least the Muppet were all from Action and not a combination of both Action and Revell as I ended up getting with my 2001 Looney Tune's Cars. The set includes two Pontiacs (Labonte and Benson), two Fords (Jarrett and Rudd) and four Dodges (Mayfield, Elliott, Atwood and Spencer).

Loony Tunes Collection 2001

I currently have six cars in this set including:

I like these cars. The Jeff Gordon car comes with the paint that changes colours as the light moves over it from green to purple. It's gorgeous and the other cars are colourful and well done as well. I think all of these cars also came from Wayne's Cards in Edmonton. My only beef with these six cars are that three are Revell and came with their own base and dust cover and two were Action which left me to find cases. They just look a little funny, not being consistent. I know, at least, that Terry Labonte had a car and I might try and get this one day. All six cars are Chevy's

Ed. Note: we saw the Jeff Gordon Bugs Bunny car on display, damage and all, outside Action Performance in Phoenix during the Team Whump 2002 Phoenix Tour

Coca Cola Bears 2001

Two car set that includes:

Not much to add to this. I like these two cars that I have sitting one on top of the other if display cases. Wayne's Sports Cards in Edmonton was once again my supplier. Both cars are Pontiac Grand Prix's

Jurassic Park 3 2001

Two car set that includes:

Once again not much more to add. I like the Coca Cola Bear's cars more than these two but these are o.k.. I have them stacked on each other like the bear's cars and as per usual they were obtained at Wayne's Sports Cards in Edmonton. I have bought a few movie based theme cars since getting these but I'm not much in the market for these types of movie themed cars any more. They are both Pontiacs.

Spider-man 2001

I have three cars in this set including:

2001 was Dodge's return to Winston Cup racing and both Bill Elliott and Casey Atwood were hired to drive for the Dodge Dealer's. I think that these three cars were very well done. Probably the best movie themed cars I own. The clear car is by far one of the nicest pieces in my collection. The spider webbing and Spider-man himself were painted over the transparent body of this car and was well thought out. You can see the inner frame work of the car, the engine and the cockpit which are all highly detailed. The two regular cars were both purchased at Wayne's Sports Cards in Edmonton and the clear car was obtained at Comix Hobby at West Edmonton Mall. The cars are Dodge Intrepid R/T's.
