I often attend and perform at the acoustic jam sessions at the Skol Pub on Gabriola Island, BC. This is a good jam session, with a good cross-section of skill levels represented and a great community feel.
This trio has been performing together off and on for about six or seven years. While they usually pump out the pop and rock hits, they are all basically folkies in their approach to material and performance -- that is, strong on songs. This show will be a kind of personal history of folk music, the songs that got them interested way back when. Click HERE to go directly to the Victoria Folk Music Society website.
This is a remarkably nice festival in so many ways. Great music, great arts and crafts, great setting. Just go -- you'll like it. As in past years, I will be MCing the mainstage all four days and will be performing host of the Great Canadian Songs panel concert to close the festival. We participated in the 'ukulele show sponsored by Larsen Music as part of their 'Ukulele Week celebrations. Mahalo nui loa.
Victoria Folk Music Society, Victoria, BC. This show was done in a duo format with my old friend and mandolin virtuoso Rick Van Krugel. Click HERE to go directly to the Victoria Folk Music Society website. And, no, I hadn't swallowed a bug just before this photo was taken, as my wife suggests.
