I always wanted to be a writer, and it took me far too long to realize that writers simply sit down, and write. Fan fiction writers included. I dabbled in several fandoms, but it wasn't until Stargate SG-1 came along that I was inspired enough to actually complete anything. And then of course, as always, I became obsessed with minor characters and really, that's why I write. To explore concepts and relationships that the television show simply doesn't have time for.
In my other life, I'm a mother of two little ones, a part-time doula, and in my spare time I work on finishing my original erotic romance novel. I live on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia, just a short ferry ride from Hollywood North. And yes, I've been to Gatecon.
For those aspring fan fiction writers, here's my advice: just sit down and begin. Write for yourself but know your audience, listen to constructive criticism, ignore the idiots, read the good stuff, practice and complete your work. That's all there is to it.
