Nothing quite matches the excitement
of hearing that reel start to scream when a big one hits the line.

Intrepid carries a wide variety of tackle and equipment to make your fishing adventure the highlight of your year. Intrepid is a 26-foot Bayliner Explorer cruiser that is suited for ocean cruising and fishing. Her 150 horsepower diesel is eco-friendly and will get you out to the hot spots in quiet comfort. A 4-stroke Mercury kicker provides for quiet trolling. The boat has a full canvas back for inclement days, although her “combat configuration” normally leaves the back end open to provide uninhibited freedom of action for getting those big fish into the boat.

Our boat carries all required safety, distress and navigational equipment.

Your guide and skipper, Dick, has 16 years’ experience fishing the coasts of Vancouver Island.  His fishing guests have included members of the world-famous Canadian Forces Snowbirds aerobatic team and visitors from Europe, Canada, the United States and Australia.  Dick and the Intrepid meet or exceed current Transport Canada (Marine) training and equipment requirements. Intrepid operates from Nanaimo on the east coast of Vancouver Island until late spring when she moves to Port Alberni to take advantage of the tremendous fishing areas off the West Coast.  Consider starting your fishing adventure with an early morning scenic cruise down the 25-mile Alberni Inlet, where you may see bald eagles, sea lions and black bears, and on occasion, whales.  The morning’s fishing could be followed by lunch in a pub or restaurant in the quaint fishing village of Bamfield, and then there is time for several more hours fishing before cruising for home.

Don’t forget before coming aboard to get a saltwater fishing license with salmon conservation stamp. Licenses are available at most Nanaimo tackle shops, Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart and on-line (see my Links page for a link to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Recreational Fishing Licensing site and the current fee schedule).
