Steve's
Place
Blistering
Bilston

Pete, Glenn, Davey and Robin
worked very hard tonight to turn in a blistering performance.
On what felt like the
hottest day of the year so far, Aynsley Lister and his band had sent the
temperature soaring after an absolutely knock-out warm-up set. More on
this rising British blues star soon, promise.
The Robin was full yet
its brightly lit stage made it almost impossible for the band to see their
audience. Pete spent most of the evening bathed in garish red light.
Unusually, there were a couple
of minor technical problems, beyond the band and Laurie’s control. The
responsibility for sorting these glitches fell to the venue’s own, otherwise
usually impeccable, in-house sound team.
Their response was immediate
leaving Robin and the band to get back to the job of delivering a first
class performance .
It was a hot and sweaty business
but the net result was a very satisfied audience with the welcome sight
of some of the ladies dancing down at the front. Full marks go to Pete
and Glenn for their playing on the ‘Motown’ medley that was ‘Rise up like
the sun’, ‘Victims of the Fury’ and ‘Gonna Be More Suspicious’.
This is Alan Howard for ‘Steve’s
Place’ reporting from the Robin, Bliston in England’s West Midlands. 10
