Bogart's in Cincinnati, Ohio

review and pictures thanks to J. Reason

On Tuesday April 1st 2008 Robin, Davey,Pete, and Glenn rocked Ohio into submission when they played for a packed house at Bogart's in Cincinnati. The crowd was really into the music from the opening notes of the first song. The setlist
consisted of 17 songs and were played in the exact order as they were for the Kansas City gig on Feb. 29th.  The venue is an old theatre and the sound was good from the stage to about midway back seating wise.

Memorabillia set up
In the back seats and balcony, the sound was muddied up a bit and Davey's voice was hard to follow even though I knew the words to every song. The same could be said for Glenn's bass rig as the room, walls and crowd really sucked up the low end tones. Robin's guitar and Pete's drum kit were rockin no matter where you were!  At stage level up close, the bands sound and Davey's vocals were really kickin some serious butt. Overall, the band was giving 110% but the club P.A. system was not as energetic and was not up to par in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see what Robin says about the sound of this venue on his blog.
None of this had any effect on the crowd who really enjoyed themselves all night long.
The crowd came to its feet when the band ripped into the 5th song "The Fool & Me" and Robin and the guys had them under their wings from that point forward! Anything from the Bridge Of Sighs era was a big hit with the crowd. Pete's drum work on "Hannah" was stunning & Glenn's backup vocals on "Victims Of The Fury" leaves me wishing that he and the band would chime in on a few more numbers. Other favorites were "No Time" "Shame The Devil" "For Earth Below" and "Islands   Even after the encore numbers, the crowd did not want to leave and was still pounding on the walls for more.
Classic rock/blues just does'nt get any better than this and as a long time fan you can feel, sense, and almost taste a huge comeback in the air for one of the most under-rated guitarists of all time... Robin Trower!  After the show, Robin stuck around to sign some things for his fans and chat just a bit on a very chilly evening outside and all went home very satisfied.

The security folks had some kind words for the band and also stated that this was the most well behaved crowd that they could ever remember over the past couple of years. The low point of the evening came when my camera's light filter malfunctioned just prior to the opening number and all hopes for some great photos of the band were lost.
Still, it was quite a night!
