The celebration of marriage is a service that the Unitarian Church is pleased to offer for both members and non-members alike. There are no special requirements for non-members other than their goodwill and sincerity in seeking to be married in our church. As part of our commitment to equality and diversity, we are proud to solemnize both conventional marriages and same-sex marriages. We offer alternative and non-traditional services and we happily solemnize marriages for couples whose love bridges different religious or cultural backgrounds. Marriage services can be held in one of our churches or a meaningful site of the couple's own choosing -- at home or in a park, in a hotel or aboard a boat, in the minister's study, and so on. The Unitarian congregations in the Interlake maintain three buildings, each of which is available for weddings: n Arborg Unitarian Church, at the corner of Ingolfs Street at River Road, in Arborg. The church is set up to accommodate 150 people, but it can accommodate as many as 190 people if additional chairs are brought in. (The pews seat approximately 112 and there are 40 upholstered chairs on site.) The church has an electric organ, upright piano and sound system. n Gimli Unitarian Church, on Second Avenue, east of Centre Street, in Gimli. The church comfortably seats 60 people on upholstered chairs; it can accommodate another 20 people, or so, if additional chairs are brought in. There is an upright piano in the church. n Hnausa Chapel, along the shore of Lake Winnipeg, one-half mile south of Hnausa hamlet on Provincial Road 222. The chapel can accommodate approximately 50 people on wooden pews. There is no piano, organ or sound system on site. (The camp's Palmi Palsson Hall is available for wedding receptions at a modest rental fee.) The Unitarian Church does not require couples to participate in a premarital counseling programme. Couples who wish to voluntarily participate in such a programme are advised to contact the Interfaith Marriage and Family Institute at the University of Winnipeg. The Unitarian Church recommends an honorarium of $250 for the minister who officiates at your wedding. (The honorarium is payable to the minister or chaplain directly.) There is a $125 rental charge for use of any of the church buildings, payable to the church. Couples are responsible for arranging to have the church cleaned following their service; where this is not possible, a caretaking fee of $50 should be added to the rental charge. Wedding fees are not eligible for income tax deduction as a charitable expense. For further information or to discuss the possibilty of being married by one of our officiants, please contact either the minister or chaplain directly: n Rev. Stefan M.
