"Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religious tradition that affirms:
the unity of Nature (while eschewing supernaturalism); the
dignity of human nature; discipleship to advancing truth; the
authority of individual conscience tempered by reason; an ethics
based on respect for human welfare and freedom, and the
sustainability of the natural order; democracy as the basis for the
social and economic order; the cultivation of individual character;
the covenanted religious community; and the redemption of the
world though human effort. Unitarian Universalism blends two
historic streams of liberal religious thought, rooted in Christianity:
Unitarianism, which affirmed the oneness of God and the
humanity of Jesus, and Universalism, which affirmed the
universality of human salvation."
