Electrolysis is a safe, permanent process of hair removal that can be applied to anyone. Women and men can both benefit. If you feel that unwanted hair is in any way a nuisance or an embarrassment, then electrolysis is definitely for you!
Electrolysis is the removal of unwanted hair through the means of a very fine surgical wire (known as a probe or filament) inserted into the hair follicle (this is non-invasive as this is a natural pocket of skin). Then a small amount of current is delivered into the base of the hair follicle . This cauterizes the tissue at the base of the follicle so that the hair is unable to regenerate itself and grow back.
The sensation may vary for each individual. There may be some discomfort during electrolysis but we will make it as comfortable as possible with our many personalized techniques. It has been described as a slight tingling or stinging sensation. Your electrologist will make your treatment as pleasant and pain free as possible. There are freezing creams available, if needed.
Electrolysis has been used as a method of permanent hair removal since 1875.
There is no evidence that shows any other method of hair removal being as safe, effective and permanent as electrolysis.
Hair can be removed from any part of the body. Some common areas for women and men may include the hairline, eyebrows, top of the nose, cheeks, side-burn area, upper and lower lip, chin, throat, neck, shoulders, back, chest, breasts, abdomen, arms, legs, bikini line, hands, feet, toes and fingers. Hairy moles may be treated with written permission from a physician.
A series of treatments are necessary to ensure that all the hairs are treated. Hairs go through growth cycles and are constantly replacing themselves, just as you shed hair on your head daily. Each person is an individual and their treatment times can vary according to the size of area to be treated, hormonal balance, the consistency of treatments and previous methods of hair removal. With each treatment a noticeable change in the amount of hair visible will be seen. The overall results, permanent hair-free-skin, are well worth the time spent.
There three types of electrolysis available:
