So you wanna visit Japan? An excellent choice.

Tell me, friend, when you think of Japan, do you think of Mount Fuji and the sprawling cityscape of Tokyo? Uh huh.

Do you think of samurai, Godzilla angrily confronting Mothra and Rodan, and Hello Kitty stationary? Well now.

Do you think of tuna fish and Geishas eating sushi whilest singing karaoke? I thought so.

Well, that's all fine and dandy there, but what you're really lacking is some knowledge about a little group of islands they call Hokkaido.

Hokkaido is the northernmost region of Japan, consisting of one big, bad-ass island that more than vaguely resembles a fish in shape, and a  number of smaller surrounding islands. It's a place where fish frolic in the clear blue sea (before they are harvested, cut up, and quickly scarfed  down by hungry people like me), a place where bears mate with other bears and make more bears, where volcanos burst their over-inflated  bellies on a regular basis, and where fruit....uh....grows. It's also a place where people go ass-backward out of their way to be nice to tourists, and  where the fish tastes.....well, it tastes much like heaven might taste, ladies and gentlemen.

This website is dedicated to Hokkaido, my favorite part of Japan, and one of my favorite places to travel in the whole world. I've narrowed the site  down to my five favorite places in Hokkaido, but if you think I'm a shmuck for leaving your favorite Hokkiad-ian town or burgh out of the loop, send  me an email and I'll try to make a page for your fave too. I hope you'll all have a chance to visit this lovely neck of the woods on your own someday.

Enjoy and happy travels.
