Tazzine Ballerine

Lodola marked the subjects of his works dance like the goddess Shiva,
in a ring of fire: the fire of life fed by the pleasure of dance. Lodola's
characters dance because if there is no dance, there is no life.

Schwung

The collection by Peter Roesch was born of a single brush-stroke. The simple gesture,
Schwung, lent its name to an entire illy collection. By repeating this gesture using
several different colors of paint, the artist created a series of decorative motifs, or
symbols, which embellish the surface of the espresso cups with a disarming simplicity.
Splashes of orange, gold, yellow, blue, azure and gray give an elegant and
harmonious air to the six cups of this illy collection. Roesch's other works have been
exhibited in many of the most important galleries in Switzerland, France, Germany and
Italy.

Zebra

Roberta Pietrobelli is already well-known to collectors of illy collections, for her 1995
serie entitled Spirali, which quickly sold out and is highly sought-after by collectors
today. Four years later, Pietrobelli continues to create "touchable art", seeking out new
shapes, textures, and surfaces, and showcasing them on the most unexpected
objects. Now, she has combined her creative energy and sense of irony to decorate a
new illy collection called Zebra. In this six-cup collection, she has reproduced the
patterns and colors of the animals which inspired her, capturing on the porcelain
surface their spirit of freedom, and the spontaneity of their movement. Together, the
varying tones of each cup meld to form a unique ensemble, evoking the atmosphere
and emotions of far-off lands.
