This was illycaffès first collection of collector espresso cups. Six
artists -- architect Thun, graphic artist Maurizio Cargnelli, painter
Paolo Cervi, sculptor Cosimo Fusco, stylist Luca Missoni, and
Francesco Illy, photographer -- decorated the porcelain surfaces with
original and unusual subjects. One artist covered his with colorful
fingerprints, while another decorated a female nudist la Matisse.
One artist embellished it with abstract forms, another with flamboyant
ties; one artist focused on mystery, and another on an image of the
universe with the planet shaped like a coffee bean.
