Although casting the I Ching is the most authentic, traditional way of finding a more-than-conscious focus, there must be many other (short-cut) methods, such as: randomly opening any I Ching book to find a site, choosing a number between one and sixty-four by some random means, shuffling sixty-four cards and picking one, making nine numbered cards (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) and randomly selecting two numbers and then multpplying the two numbers together and/or adding them and/or subtracting them.... writing down four numbers between one and sixty-four on four pieces of paper and, after throwing them in the air, selecting the one that lands nearest to you, etc. Find a random way to choose a second nuumber if you want to see into the future . This type of short-cut approach may be less reliable than the more complex process of casting the I Ching ; however, any process that can bypass the contrived way of the conscious mind, and that can tap into what Carl Jung referred to as the synchronicity of simultaneous events, must be able to claim a measure of viability. |
