In order to be represented in the ArtBankORG, participants must complete
the Guide sheet instructions and submit the text and the artwork
(by email, by regular mail, or by hand).
Indicate clearly the name and number of the artwork that was focused on.

Four-Step Response Process

Readiness a: Wondering
Make a note of two questions asked before starting:
one that addresses your expectations from the artwork and one that addresses your own desires/wishes.

Readiness  b: Focusing
Select a Multi-media eScape artwork to respond to (if you do this by casting the I Ching, and when a second site or change is indicated, it's suggested that you respond to the first one but check out the second one and add a note about your response to its suggested change
for the future).

Step 1: Inner Imaging
Respond to the selected artwork by following the four steps
(summarized below) of the iiae response process
(no writing or speaking is necessary during this process;
avoid hearing the opinions of others before discovering your own).

Forgetting: Imagine that the artwork is a place/space
where you can enter and go on a journey; you can choose
where to go and how long to stay,
and what to feel about each situation.

Remembering: Then, try to recall the journey in your imagination,
as if you were telling someone else about it, in the order
in which the events happened.

Reflecting: Then, try to imagine that you are situated
in the art work and imagine what it feels like
to be inside looking out at the spectators.

Retro-activating: Then, Imagine that you can change the art work;
you can make it the way you would prefer it to be.
Get rid of any or all parts and replace them with your own inventions;
or better still, imagine an entirely new artwork as a result
of the response experience.

Step 2: Outer imaging
Write a narrative account of the response journey,
an account of the phases of the journey experienced
in the order in which they occurred.
Be sure to note your responses
both to the work itself and about your own respose feelings,
your rewards and/or your disappointments.
(Add more text at later stages is desired.)

Step 3: Inner imaging
Research and respond to other backgrounds,
such as information about the artwork's history and source
(see the TEXT info at each site), other image/text responses
to the work, I Ching readings related to the work,
discussions with others. Feel free to use any of this
or any other information to inspire your own text/image submisssion.

Step 4: Outer imaging
Make an original image in response to the journey
on a standard letter-size sheet of paper
or other material (8 ½ inches x 11 inches), using any medium.
It should be inspired by the four layers of the response journey taken,
revising the original image, and/or making  a completely new work
based on the journey as experienced.

Take time to ensure that you are satisfied with your work
before you submit as it will be available for others to see on line.
The image sent may be an original or an image of it;
if it is 3-d, or an event, an image representing it can be submitted.

If you're having difficulty making a response image,
check out the Layers of the OUTER IMAGING process
to help you make an original artwork.

Submit the written text (from Step 2) and the paper or jpeg image
(from Step 4) to the address offered.
